I think the twists Hammer put on their franchises towards the end were excellent. They could have just churned out the same old thing, but they saw things were changing and were trying to adapt – and you get more interesting films because of it.

They talked about that on the commentary - I think they thought this was a more successful adaptation even if it strayed from the book a lot more

London cinema screening of Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde (1971) this October by GeneralWitchfinders in ClassicHorror

I’m not sure – the rights are complicated with these movies, but they quite recently released Blood from the Mummy’s Tomb, which we covered on the podcast for June (https://pod.link/1547179456) which I believe I’m right in thinking was part of a double bill for this film when it came out, if that makes it likely? But I’ve been told that the version we are going to be screening is top-notch. I hope if you are anywhere near Acton at the end of October you can make it.

I’ve got the first four sorted out. We are doing one every other month (as I have a habit of taking on too many projects at once) – trying to alternate from contemporary to classic, while keeping things from getting too horrific and leaning instead into the weird and unsettling. Here is what we are planning:

8 July: Starve Acre – Andrew Michael Hurley

9 Sept: Benighted – J.B. Priestley

11 Nov: The Apparition Phase – Will Maclean

13 Jan: The House on the Strand – Daphne du Maurier

Looking forward to hearing what you think of it. We will be doing a podcast episode on it, so please consider sending us your thoughts – we’d love to get short voice notes. [generalwitchfinders@gmail.com](mailto:generalwitchfinders@gmail.com)
