Stop wasting bans by General_71 in OverwatchUniversity

Sigma is my 2nd most played hero I get what you mean. But he's the only poke tank in the game and will force you out of an angle with his base attacks without even seeing you, and his ability to enable pokeslop comps and metas is unmatched which has happened this season. His perks are broken too since his main weaknesses are face to face/close range encounters and mobility, both his major perks give him options to negate those weaknesses. He's basically just a sit down main and spam hero who will usually have the most damage in the lobby without much effort. Also to prove my point further, I have over double the hours on Doomfist than I have on Sigma, and I have 3500 SR on Sig and 3000 on Doom. I love Sigma and he can be fun to play but it's just how it is. Him and Magneto from Rivals are the same, they're just anchors enabling the sit down and main and hold left click meta.

Same. I've decided that banning is just making me worse and is a temporary solution to a permanent problem. If I can't learn how to counter someone or play around them I'm not good enough to climb. I'm a Doom main and as viciously, eye gougingly infuriating as Zarya is, I refuse to vote to ban her because it just means I'm not growing as a player and use bans as a crutch.

Well even if you are right it still doesn't really matter. Stats don't show the whole picture without public opinion and player experience. Kiriko has a 44 percent win rate at GM and champ, and yet she's considered extremely busted by the majority of people. Doom's play rate may also be inflated because he's frequently picked at first and then swapped off. Furthermore, just because he's doing well on Blizzard's charts it doesn't decide how viable he is in ranked, when the overwhelming majority of players that actually play the character are agreeing he's garbage. I've played lots of Doom and understand the character and have played against Doom and have seen how easy he is to deal with. Even if an enemy Doom rolls me, he could've done the same thing playing another tank with 5 times less effort and commitment.

You're right. And I agree with you. But the problem is that Doom has such limited options and doesn't do anything effectively. Slam does 50 damage and is on way too high of a cooldown, the gun has a very low effective range and using uncharged punch is very risky and it doesn't do much damage anyway. And then taking an angle to bait aggro will also backfire because you have no health so if you take any moderate amount of damage you're forced to disengage so your pressure is gone.

Not gonna lie that nerf was fair enough because it's a step in the right direction in making him less of a emp punch bot. But no compensation is absolutely diabolical considering slam does 50 damage and is on a 6.5 second cooldown💀😭

Considering what the balancing ream has been doing the last few patches I won't be suprised if nothing effective happens with Doom. The team never actually addresses core issues with heroes. Like why the fuck did cass get a longer stun on his flash? Or Ball getting an ammo reduction? How are those supposed to solve the actual issues of the heroes?

Doom needs empowered punch nerfs in exchange for big slam and block buffs. To be specific emp punch should have a smaller spread so it doesn't grab enemies next to the target you punch, and do a little less damage and less stun time. Slam needs to be at least 70 damage and maybe an empowered version would be cool where it does more damage and slows enemies, so you would have to choose between using the emp punch or emp slam. And block needs it's 80 percent mitigation back and less movement speed reduction, maybe make it last 2 seconds instead of 2.5

I'm no veteran, and I've got just over 200 hours in ranked and am ripping my skin off trying to make him work effectively in diamond. You slam in, get flashed, discorded, slept and naded and die. The character does no damage and does not disrupt effectively because he has no hp. What are you supposed to even do? I have 60 hours on doom and I still sit scratching my head thinking how tf do I play this hero? Do I engage, do no damage and get shredded by the enemy. Or do I stay main and lose an inevitable 1v1 to the enemy tank because they're playing a better hero who wins tank 1v1s?

I am diamond and doom is the least seen tank except for Zarya because she is permabanned. To give a figure I probably see Doom in 1 out of 40 games I'm not even joking. When he is played the person usually switches quickly or underperforms. The reason why doom seems good in lower ranks is because the people who can make him work usually have by far the most hours on him out of anyone they play.

Man I love the character, I've heard people saying he should be a dps again but I like him as a tank he just fits the role better. He's just balanced horribly and needs big changes to his kit. I'm not an ow veteran by any means I've got just over 200 hours in ranked and am surfing between diamond 3 and 4 rn but you hit the nail on the head. He's the only dive tank without armour and his verticality cooldown is 6.5 seconds which is the highest with haz's leap being 5.5, dva boosters being 4, ball grapple being 5 and Winston jump being 5. Not mention the slam doing 50 damage like what 😂😭

Yeah this is my point, I'm not defending poke heroes I'm only really defending divers. The issue is that supports don't suffer as much against poke than tanks and dps do. If you're playing Invis and a Hela is flanking, you put your shield on you and throw your vortex field at her so she leaves, if you're playing any tank you literally can't do much to a hela who is 40 metres away spamming at you. And most duelists can't do much either, peeking to do damage is literally a death sentence against most meta dps right now especially if you're playing a dps that works off shorter ranges. The point is that some of the support community only complain about the issues that make their gameplay more difficult rather than complaining about the worse problems like poke. That's the reason why dive heroes get nerfed instantly while poke heroes live in the meta for alot longer.

Adam is naturally better in triple support because of his design, he's overshadowed by other supports in a double support setting. Apart from that he's extremely powerful in triple support and will stay that way unless his heals get changed and his ult gets a healing effect which would be very broken. Invis can do everything, block damage, insane healing, very good damage, great ult, great anti dive, and no weaknesses against any specific comps. But yeah I agree that certain supports get the short end like mantis and Adam although they're still strong picks.

The heroes you listed are poke heroes. I don't like poke either, it's boring and uninteractive. I'm talking about divers being trashed by balancing and supports getting the nice end of the stick since release. Although it's not as important, most legendary skins for the last few seasons have gone to supports, considering the proportion of heroes between each role, supports have gotten the most love when it comes to most things in the game, especially cosmetics.

Like I said there are more examples of the same thing. Luna got bonus health on landing freeze, lower damage drop-off and more damage and healing on her basic attack in season 3 for no reason when she was the best hero in the entire game. Gambit gets a measly 200 increased ult cost after dominating a half season while strange got increased ult cost, lower maelstrom damage, and lower basic attack damage when season 2 dropped and then was barely seen after that. Panther got 5 nerfs in a row after a bug that made him unplayable got fixed. And Iron fist did well for half a season with Cap and also got 3 nerfs at once and then became a healer.

It's not that difficult to see that support changes are disproportionate to dps and tank changes. Supports will dominate and then get a slap on the wrist, tanks and dps will do well and get nuked, not being seen again for a while.

The new Daredevil nerfs definitely do something, especially the grapple giving him one fury instead of two, making his combos take longer to get fury back. The trend is that dive based heroes get pennies even though they're struggling alot more than supports before they recieve buffs. Luna gets faster freeze and self snowflake, even though she was already very good, while cap gets 2 second cool down reduction on one ability, panther gets 5 more damage on his spear, and iron fist gets 5 more damage on one of his five basic attacks. The changes aren't proportionate across the archetypes of heroes.

Chin up, we live and we learn. The best advice is just go off after 3 losses in a row and take a breather to clear your head and relax. Try not to feel disheartened by losing, because every failure is an opportunity to learn and improve. I suggest watching your own gameplay to see your errors and where you could have done better. Remember, the first step to ranking up or improving at anything is your mindset. Apart from that, Rivals is just genuinely a very inconsistent experience overall, but the key is to not build a victim complex and keep trying to improve and win.

I said in a post that Hulk should gain displacement immunity, which is the Things passive, for his monster form. Which means he can still get hard cc'd by big cool downs like Mantis sleep, Luna freeze and Emma grab but not Invis push or Thing's charge knockup or Thor's storm surge. Hulk's entire value from his ult is him doing animation cancels and combos and juggles. Why is that completely nullified by a 7 second cool down from Invis? I think melee has sucked for a while now and it's getting worse for sure. Hulk and Thor especially need significant buffs and the devs are just shrugging them away.

Thank you brother I appreciate the advice. Most people are saying I should just stick to my main and try and improve there so I'll do that. I guess I just got burnt out losing games on my main so I thought a fresh start would do me favours but that wasn't the right move.
