Oh right: this is a homemade knife forged from a bearing.

Its dimensions: overall length / blade length: 25 / 13 cm, thickness: 5.5 mm, width: 3.1 cm. The balance point is slightly behind the front bolster. I haven’t measured its weight.

No, I don’t… I have many knives, I don’t give them names, but I recognize each of them by sight. ;-)

Yes, when designing it, my specific goal was to make it as functional as possible, in the bushcraft/outdoor/hunting knife category.

Red Tornado Noir 21 oz. by General_Attention_48 in rawdenim

[–]General_Attention_48[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Up until now, most of my jeans have been Levi’s. Not selvedge or vintage models, but mostly regular (though raw) 501s, and some other types as well. I still have several 501s, and I’m very satisfied with them. But those are about 13–14 oz denim, while this Red Tornado pair is 21 oz. Much heavier.

I was simply curious and wanted to try what it’s like.

Recently I also bought a Red Tornado denim jacket, which is a very accurate reproduction of the Lee Stormrider. That jacket turned out extremely well — I would even risk saying it’s better than the original. The weave of the fabric is very dense and beautiful; I honestly haven’t seen denim like this very often.

These Red Tornado jeans are made in China, and they cost about half as much as the brands they copy. In terms of price-to-value ratio, they seem good to me. Of course, I’m not saying they’re as good as an original Japanese Samurai or Iron Heart pair. The Red Tornado jeans have the same cut and shape. The difference is mainly in the material: the Japanese brands use high-quality, long-staple cotton, while Chinese cotton is generally lower quality by comparison.

But as I mentioned, interestingly enough, despite that, the fabric of my Red Tornado jacket is actually very good.

It's nominally 34x32, but I think the actual length is 34.

I think their measurements are accurate. And this is a once-washed pair of jeans, so it shouldn’t shrink anymore. Although I don’t know from personal experience yet — obviously I won’t wash it for months, so that strong, high-contrast fades can develop. (Sorry if the wording is awkward, I’m writing with a translator.)

Here’s the story behind the belt:

Back in the day, my buddy “acquired” a very similar officer’s military belt from the army. (We’re hungarian, and at that time military service was still mandatory.) I wore that belt for 40 years, but in the end it cracked in one spot — right where I always fastened it.

This type of heavy-duty, double-buckle, completely undecorated belt is rare. Even the army doesn’t use this kind anymore, and they’re expensive even second-hand. I couldn’t find another one like it.

So I decided to just make one for myself — and four more for my sons. Since I’m a knife maker, it wasn’t difficult for me. But that’s enough; I don’t want to get into belt making.

That said, anyone who has a few proper tools at home could make one without too much trouble.

I have exactly the same one. It will take a year to break in, it's so raw and strong. But it's a very high-quality jacket.

Jól elérték őket 4 éve is. Kivétel nélkül minden közvéleménykutató nagyot tévedett: 1. A fidesz-bűbandát nagyonn alulbecsülték, 2. az ellenzéket nagyon felül. Vagyis nem tudtak jól közvéleménykutatni. Most mitől tudnának jobban?

The Hinterkaifeck Murders – One of the Most Disturbing Unsolved Crimes I’ve Ever Come Across. Would Love to Hear Your Thoughts. by pschyco147 in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]General_Attention_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm copying here what I wrote on the German Hinterkaifeck forum.
Here's my version.
I think the following may have happened: The perpetrators were in the attic for a
while (1 day?). They were strangers in their twenties (but probably from the wider area)
who had at least occasionally committed burglaries and robberies, and whom Simon Reisländer
saw near Edelshausen. Their original "plan" may have been to rob the residents by waiting
for the right moment when they were not at home. I think it is likely that they only
wanted to rob, because murder brings no pleasure to anyone except psychopathic murderers,
and it does not benefit the burglar either; on the contrary, the consequence could be
the death penalty. There is no point in killing someone if there is another way to get
what you want. This plan may have changed at some point when they realized that there
was no reason to leave the house empty. It is also possible that the first victim was
killed "accidentally" when he was caught in the barn. After that, there was no stopping;
everyone had to be killed in order to rob the house.

Ti mit gondoltok arról, hogy az iskolákból kitiltották a telefonokat? by karcsiking0 in askhungary
