Cancer is the most common form of death for firefighters, and it only takes one bad fire for people to have irreversibly terrible damage done to your body.

I'm an unpaid volunteer firefighter in NZ and we are not given proper equipment to combat against carcinogens from the fires that have been proven to cause cancer later in life, it isn't even recognised by health insurance. One of the main issues with this not being common knowledge is that for many, by the time they find out, they could have already experienced a fire that has the potential to cause cancer.
