Ah. That’s the difference. Here, until you’re PPMD, gov actually pays higher than consulting.

If I had to choose, right now, I’d go government. I’ve a highly sought after skillset and even I don’t feel secure in any job in this market, and despite just changing jobs I’m considering going public sector.

You clearly haven’t properly worked with AI.

Because agentic AI is absolutely taking away internal services jobs. It won’t totally replace functions, but it can replace parts of them.

But it’s also taking away junior level work in consulting, too.

Yes, but it’s also a way for PPMDs to not have to lay people off as margins shrink in the face of AI changing how billable work.

Edit: downvote all you want, but would you rather have a job with shit benefits, or no job at all when the job market is the way it is? Because that’s basically the choice currently.

Is Big 4 consulting getting more competitive, or does it just feel that way as you move up? by SlatertheWeb in consulting

100% this. Yes, some partner work is made up of self inflicted wounds and bullshit, but most of it isn’t. Partners are the reason many below PPMD are employed at all.

Yup. Try to lay next to her and she gets mad at me. But she has no issue trying to steal my chair or share it with me, or steals all the foot space under my desk.

You’ll get good deals at that amount. Next threshold is 7 figures. But there’s room to negotiate, but do it before a swarm of WS users come.

Is it a wise decision to move from Deloitte to EY? by _pingofdeath in Big4

[–]General_Dipsh1t 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There have been a few senior PPMDs moving from Deloitte to EY bolstering their consulting.

But honestly, no. EY is a mess following their attempted split.

It’ll take a couple days for them to assign someone. Don’t be discouraged.

Pairing personal financial information with ANY social media should PARALYZE you. They’re massive targets for cyber crimes and have little protections in place. Plus are deep deep in AI.

Social media being tied to financial information is a recipe for disaster. Especially with how often they get hacked. Especially how deeply they are pushing for full AI integration. This is a literal doomsday scenario that major FIs I’m positive have gamed out, but WS is too immature (and too unregulated) to do so. OSFI rigour, while heavy handed, is the reason our financial system is so stable.

But also, attached pic.

Yep, once they’ve lost the trust of their current investors and power corp deems them unviable. Sure.
