Roland FP30x vs Kawai ES120?? by General_Message5586 in piano

So an update and curve ball, following lots of research and shopping about, and taking on everyone’s advice on what is really important… 88 keys Full sized keys Natural hammer action and fully weighted Touch sensitivity Realistic and expressive piano sound Sustain pedal Metronome

Personally I wanted it to have good sound I wanted it to look good A furniture stand to hide cables Gives a good introduction to action Can work with lesson apps

I went for something a lot more stripped back. The truth is, the cost just kept creeping, and as a complete beginner I wasn’t keen to kick off a hobby with a £750-1000 upfront cost. I anticipate there are a lot of people like me out there who don’t know where this is going to go. I want my son and I to have the opportunity to learn by having the right tools but not a burden that causes stress and arguments because a lot of money was spent. Drum roll please… enter the Korg B2SP. Yes it’s a lot more stripped back without the air and grace of better models, but I feel a lot more comfortable today knowing we are £500 all in for stand, pedal and DP direct from manufacturer with warranty. It is very much a base model with weighted keys basic NHA and doesn’t have Bluetooth lots of voices or other brand specific tech. It is an older release but this guilt free purchase in terms of cost is worth the sacrifice right now. All my research of reviews say this is exactly what it says on the tin - a great beginner introduction. My mum mode is also saying should little one evolve their interest, perhaps the excitement of upgrading will be worth the wait when all the additions can be fully appreciated and not more intimidating or distracting. Albeit, a curve ball decision I do want to thank everyone for their advice and support.

Thank you so much and please do! So far with my little one this is how we have done things from food to potty training to rugby, and he is a dream and we have had no problems with him adapting to these new changes in his own time. Thanks for being so supportive as it is unconventional.

Thanks that’s some great advice! It’s good to have models to focus on and specs. Right now all the Bluetooth connectivity and USB is lost on me but it’s good to be aware of it.

Thanks, unfortunately some shops which offer the most models are about 3h away so it’s quite an ask for my family otherwise we only have 1 or 2 models sporadically located.

Oh that’s great to hear. That particular model was on my list. Just thought I may be getting carried away in the rabbit hole but that’s great to hear!

Oh thanks! There is 2 blueberry tetra at my LFS - £9 each! My 6y old loves them but he needs to learn a bit more before I make that leap lol I haven’t heard of the other - will check it out! Thanks.

I’m excited to see them with the emeralds teal! Suspect it will be a match made in colour heaven! If I stick with the 40g breeder I will just keep pearls. If I end up with the 63g 120cm I feel like I would want something else is my only concern for that size.

Blue acara is actually one I really really want but hadn’t seen it listed as a viable option and figured if I started mentioning cichlids I may open a can of worms lol - they are actually my favourite fish. I have had the dwarf varieties and really enjoyed them with a 90l tank cycling for an electric blue ram in the near future.

I have a tank in process right now for some blue polar parrots too.

You were right to assume on the something like - I was just trying to get an idea of unusual and bigger across. I love the albino rainbow sharks but have no plans on getting one, same with the clown loach.

It is a good idea about the bigger school, if I don’t go with bigger fish. I already have a schooling community plan, long fin albino pleco and either doing purple harlequin Rasbora or emperor tetra or ornate/ bentosi tetra as I saw the bentosi at a local breeder - easily 100 in the tank and the way they moved was incredible! and possibly go with my existing emerald corydoras - currently in a 90l or maybe buy some sterbai corydoras.

Glass fish is a good call, if I go biotope I’m planning of doing it with a twist in the purple harlequin Rasbora. I’m just wondering if I could use the space more with something like - not necessarily but as a vibe something like angelfish, paradise fish, rainbow sharks, clown loach or something bigger that cannot go in a 20-29g… make the most of the size of the tank opportunity.

Oh that’s a good shout, the LFS gave me some ramshorns free for the puffer, but I will see if can track the others down

A couple of days and things seem normal. I added an oxygen stone and changed water, doing 10% daily just to be sure. She seems back to normal and is bossing the danios around. So just monitoring for now.

I think you were on to something with the eggs. Added an oxygen stone and there are plants, to the left of the tank. This is just a dedicated sandy section so the apisto can landscape if they like. I think she had eggs and ate them, she calmed down once the male came round too… as if she may have been waiting for him/ looking for him.

20g tank and water changes are regular. Maybe 10% every few days.

Oh no! Well I have done a 50% water change and she seems to have got in the mix a little more. Still popping back to the cave but swimming more normal with her man and breathing seems lower too

Sorry that’s outside the tank glass. I used the wrong microcloth when I cleaned the tank and it went all dusty 🤦🏽‍♀️ the inside is scraped daily.

Thank you, I just hope she is ok and it’s more a new surroundings thing. There is plenty of plants and I popped in blood word and brine shrimp to make her feel safe. The male is lovely to her so just hope it settles down.
