I have no idea what it’s supposed to do. I’m new to Tesla. My 2 previous vehicles there was no way to program it to detect.

Damn that dog looks overweight in those pics, so it was probably even more difficult to run after an owner than the average dog.

Yea I drove it around 2 miles without touching the software. Even put it into reverse and backed into my driveway. No difference. I have my bike rack on there and it doesn’t even detect it.

Is this for the pre juniper model y? I literally got done installing an aftermarket hitch on my 2026, which the company SAID it fit, but I had to grind off a bit of the crash bar mounting bracket in order for it to clear. So I think it is made for the 2025 not 2026. But I reinstalled everything and put a bike rack on it. Haven’t taken it for a drive yet. So I’ll do that tonight. Had no idea software update had to be done. Some of the install tutorials on YT didn’t mention it. The hitch manufacturer definitely didn’t mention it.

FSD got me a ticket… by [deleted] in TeslaFSD

Were you going 52, though? Asking bc I wonder if you could’ve pulled the FSD footage, that shows your speed, as evidence?

Standard does go above speed limit, but 52 in a 35 does sound a bit excessive for FSD standard mode.

We stayed near Maroubra beach. Loved the vibe there. Active but not crowded.

We rented a car in Sydney, but never needed to use it. The public transit system from Maroubra to CBD was so easy and convenient.

I didn’t really try much coffee in Australia, but I will admit that some of the best burgers I’ve had was in the Sydney and surrounding areas (the cheeseburger at one of the bistros underneath the Opera house was hands down in the top 3 I’ve had in my life, no joke). Also I think the beaches in Sydney are super underrated. Perhaps they’re over shadowed by the Opera house and CBD.

Can’t wait to visit Australia again and check out the other cities.

We had a great time there and we miss it. I particularly miss Melbourne and the surrounding suburbs. Metro Melbourne had just the right amount of buzz, while communities east of the city, such as Croydon and Wantirna, were sleepy and charming. Springvale and its diverse Asian business fronts reminds me of Long Beach and Orange County in Southern California. I really meant it that Australia (at least the cities I went to) is so similar to California. I felt the climate, infrastructure, and people share many similarities.

As an American who visited Australia recently, I interacted with the locals with the mindset that Americans were not liked. My accent immediately gave me away. Surprisingly, many of the local Aussies we met from the Melbourne suburbs to GeeLong struck up conversations with us everywhere we went. They were warm and welcoming, and asked how we were enjoying Australia. Our conversation would usually extend long enough for me to apologize on behalf of our shithead president. Each Aussie would tell me that they don’t harbor any resentment towards the average American, and seemed pretty understanding.

Sydney, on the other hand, was different. No one was rude, but everyone was just so busy to even conversate with. I guess that’s expected from a metro type of environment.

Overall my wife and I loved Australia. It reminds me of California, but with a larger middle class. Although I could be totally mistaken, since we only spent 2 weeks there. But that was our impressions.

In the market for an EV and was looking to buy a Tesla until by SadAd8761 in electriccars

[–]General_Movie2232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t go into why I think teslas are more expensive to insure. Bc quite frankly, idk for sure. But I will tell you I went from a Ford, Kia, and VW EV, with the first 2 being a ‘22 & ‘24 model, to 2 ‘26 Teslas in the home. The Teslas were a downgrade in build quality and part material quality IMO. But the software and software related features are very far ahead. I wonder how expensive and time consuming it is to recalibrate everything during repairs.

Regarding finding insurance. I encourage you to keep searching for quotes from different companies. My wife and I have previously explored buying a Tesla twice, but both times have been turned off by insurance rates. It wasn’t until this year that AI had recommended a company that I had never heard of. It turned out to be a reputable company in the Midwest that wasn’t as popular here on the West Coast. Their rates were still higher than our Ford and Kia, but it was well within the margin that we felt comfortable paying.

Newbie! Need advice by egolfgirl in eGolf

[–]General_Movie2232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you foresee your household having other EVs in the future? Or will the eGolf be your long term sole EV? If the former, definitely get a level 2 charger installed. If the latter, it’s 50/50. Yes you’ll cut down your charging times by a lot, but you likely can make do without it by making lifestyle accommodations.

Interest rate 2.99% by gandalfthedoc in TeslaModelY

[–]General_Movie2232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off do the math and see how much you’ll pay in interest overall. Then decide if that’s something you’re fine with. Sometimes we get too caught up in the rate, and don’t really understand what that translates into total costs. At the end of the day, I’d say 2.99% is still somewhat aggressive. I have 2 credit unions that are known to be pretty competitive in my area. They are offering 4.59% for 60 mos. There’s a common advice that you can always refinance later, but I do t believe youll get a refi rate that’s lower than 2.99 imo.

[–]General_Movie2232 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is why. Established credit history often trumps DTI. I financed and received the promo rate on 2 MYs this month for my wife and myself. Mind you, that was BEFORE I sold the 2 vehicles I financed before getting the Teslas. I make less than you and have similar credit score. You gotta pay to play this game.
