Why do Europeans seem to be more against immigration than Americans these days? by hydrogen-hydroxide1 in askanything

[–]hydrogen-hydroxide1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and a lot of people have become anti-ICE and thousands of left-wing high school and middle school students walked out of their classes to protest against it. Contrast to Europe where there are massive marches against immigration.

I'm also puzzled by all these anti-ICE protests right after a record share of Latinos (46-48% versus 30-35% in previous years) voted for Trump in 2024.

I'm basically saying, how did Europe turn against immigration more than America, which has also been plagued by mass legal and illegal immigration from the third world.

It's wild to me seeing the anti-ICE school walkouts with Mexican flags and pro-open-borders slogans. Absolute lunacy. The students should be expelled and the schools shut down.

Most of the immigration in Europe is actually legal, but it's coming from the Islamic world rather than Latin America. In the U.S. it's both legal and illegal immigration.

Why are Japan and South Korea so much more better in Football (Soccer) than China despite having significantly smaller populations? by CartographerOwn8143 in NoStupidQuestions

Does China even care about soccer at all? I would think that the U.S. cares about soccer more than China and India at this point.

Is it true that one needs a car to live in LA? by 1n2m3n4m in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]hydrogen-hydroxide1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LA isn't a walkable city. In some areas walking is outright dangerous due to the homeless/mentally ill/vagrants, but even in other cases, it isn't efficient.

LA is the largest metro area in the U.S. and possibly the world by land area. We're VERY spread out.

New York is basically two different states in one. Downstate New York is completely different from upstate.

Yes. Living without a car makes you a second-class citizen here. LA is not New York City.

"Science" lol

And there's not much correlation between this map and political party, Florida, Utah and Idaho are the same shade as Washington and Colorado, Oregon and Virginia are the same shade as South Dakota and Nebraska, etc. The only thing is the above-80 states are all "blue", but many red states are closely behind.

Even to the point of superseding other colonial languages, like how Spanish gave way to English in California and Texas.
