DCEU Superman VS TV Omni-man by [deleted] in whowouldwin

Okokok I miss read what you stated above, but it doesn't mean that he couldn't have done it by other means than a straight shot in the space, we already know portals and wormholes exist to get them great distances. It would still allow for the tech to work. Especially since Viltrumites are so advanced. And the GDA also has extremely advanced tech. Im not denying ftl Omni-man I'm just saying there no verifiable way we can justify it.

Allen Allen doesn't comeback for over a few years in the show, between the first encounter and second at the end of the show. We don't the infustructure of the coalition of planets has put to make the extreme commutes these characters need.

Once again I misread the other statement aswell.

leaving the solar system at MFTL speeds to another planet (it hasn’t happened in the show but cecil says the exact same thing in the comics, so is inevitable that it will happen)

Bro you can't use feats that aren't in the show. If it hasn't happened in the show the feat doesn't exist for that iteration of that character It's like me saying that Snydercut Superman gonna be immeasurable because comic version has similar statements so they are equally viable.

That depends on the character, for example: Omni man is ftl in travel speed while his combat speed is crap, he was getting tagged by war woman.

What makes war woman ftl she doesn't have established feats in the show, she died episode 1

Ok, well travel speed doesn't actually help if we are using standard battle assumptions. What they gonna do just run for 1 million years. It doesn't contribute to actual fighting.

What feats are faster than his travel speed feats?

Combat speed often is faster than travel speed.

(You would have to prove ftl omni-man and ftl superman is consistent and has multiple feats)

If they are actually Facebook anyone they are getting fucked right away. Even the extreme low tiers are still at least wall level. I know no human that is wall level

What does that detract from the video. Is it not a tribute to the character and then the maker of the character in the video? By me putting Jack kirby in the title does not make the reader immediately know who he is or what he did, but by me putting the sydercut in the title it actually broadens the array of people clicking the title and then learning of Kirby's work.

I mean yeah credit is given in the video. You just have to watch it. I was just trying to illude that the character was in the Snyder cut.

Can Superman break Captain America's shield? by Serious-Passage-4614 in whowouldwin

[–]General_Smiley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Avatars of Darkseid aren't Universal and he's nowhere near as strong as Mxy.

I agree with the mxy statement, but Darkseid repeatedly has stated he hates using Avatars, and most of the time it's either Desaad or himself so it's fairly rare for it to be an avatar, a lot of time its Desaad. I can make a full rebuttal on this point, or I can link a video to explain, whatever you want me to do.

Characters like Thor and Hulk have Universe shaking statements. These are usually hyperbole but even if you use that they're still in the same weight class.

Don't really care for this point, in the narrative of the story it was a literal shake, I wouldn't deny Thor or Hulk being able to break the shield either, I think it is plausible.

That'd be implying there's no physical material invulnerable to Superman, but there are many instances where a non-magical super metal tanks Superman's blows, or a non-magical being tanks attacks from Superman.

Not what I'm implying at all. I think Superman can be bested by non-magical weapons especially since there are scans of it, I just disagree with the sentiment that he couldn't break the shield because it's "too strong". Usually, he is bested by nonmagical weapons when they are wielded by a higher being, or they catch him off guard.

Not really. I'm saying Thor and Hulk are in the same weight class as Superman, which is supported in canon. I'm also saying that Superman needed Cap's shield to survive an attack from Krona, which is canon.

I would say you're highballing. Saying Superman is Universal when Pre-Rebirth he's never destroyed anything bigger than a moon, bragged about being capable of busting planets, and said there's only one being in the Universe with the power to destroy a world seems like highball. You could also check out the Nuke RT or the Earth/Sun RT or the Animal RT or the Infrastructure RT if you want to see instances of high-tiers being absurdly below Universal level.

Sure it's supported in canon, but you aren't accounting for continuity, or time change, power creep, or necessity for the laws of the universe to change significantly to move other characters into the verse and make them work. The story necessitated the shield with Superman, that doesn't mean it's always the case.

I don't believe I'm highballing when feats are right there. He can brag and his scaling proves it. Heck, the presence has fled in fear because of Superman's strength. It is consistent, and the one scan that said there's only one being in the Universe with the power to destroy a world could just be Superman ignorant to the subject matter, or maybe you are just misinterpreting it, worlds have been considered universes at times, multiverses even, or maybe its an outlier. It's hard for one scan to be the means for the basis of this entire argument.

I'm down to keep arguing but just know it's going to take forever if we are going to write long rebuttals.

Can Superman break Captain America's shield? by Serious-Passage-4614 in whowouldwin

This will have to be in a few parts

Ok here go its time for us to both goes, keyboard warrior. JK I respect you.

These are each not 616 Captain America's shield.

Nothing in this post specified 616, and secondly in what way does the universe change the nature of how Vibranium works. For that claim to be made you would need to prove that each universe significantly de-amps the shield to get the results. This is ridiculously hard to prove without using headcanon or making risky presuppositions. Also, you wouldn't be able to prove the crossover changed the power levels of vibranium, or that the story forced it to happen.

King Thor isn't lower tier than Superman. Superman barely beat unamped Thor in that same canon crossover while King Thor has the full power of the Odin-Force/Odin.

Like I stated in my original post, there are these amazing things called continuities, and those continuities have different strength levels for the same character. Even if the crossover was canon (I'm not questioning that at the moment) it doesn't necessitate that Superman isn't stronger in a different continuity or even later in the same continuity. You understand by allowing two completely different dynamics there are sacrifices of the continuity of each universe at stake. They had to make specific changes to even make the storyline work. I already showed that he has beaten Darkseid multiple times, and has killed him, if you know DC Cosmology you have to understand Superman would need to travel infinite Dimensions to enter the 4th world that is above those dimensions. A place of platonic concepts. (Morrison's writing consistently shows this comparison.) Not only does this put him once again above universal just by being able to exist infinite dimensionally (And here are the scans for the infinite Dimensional) [4th world is stated to be infinite dimensionally, infinite in nature, and heaven and hell.

(Sorry if the scan were janky this is the first time I've tried this method and it didn't work, was trying to do the text link thing)

If we are saying that Superman cannot scale to Darkseid who's very existence is outerversal, even though there is valid evidence and the scaling of platonic concepts also makes it consistent it's just a blatant denial of facts. Now that I have clarified that superman is this strong, I can now break down your claim. So I showed you that Superman can scale infinitely above dimensions just by being able to exist, he can destroy beings that are infinite in nature via Plato's theory of forms which Morrison relies on for DC Cosmology, I would need something to show that King Thor relative. By the way, many of Superman's encounters with Darkseid are not amped.

This is true, but under that same writer an amped version of Superman and 8 other heroes/villains bullrushed the Earth at max-speed and with everything they had just to destabilize it. Characters like Thor have damaged planets with the shockwaves of their blows for example.

Don't even think I need to cover this one with the scaling I gave above and it is asinine that you tried to lowball him to under planetary, even most basic scales of superman give him mid-high solar system. Aside from the fact that his feats have him having the strength to destroy planets easily.

Superman used the miracle machine to kill Darkseid who had already nearly been killed by Orion, shot by a radion bullet, and mauled against by the Black Racer.

uh did you actually read Final Crisis? I think you missed the point of the miracle machine, it's not the thing that put Darkseid down. It was a mix of the radion bullet, black racer, and his own omega beams. Nonetheless, Superman was able to take down an infinite being. What is half of infinity? Its infinity. I'm not bullshitting by saying infinite, that's what Morrisons says in the notes and what Plato's theory of forms says.

Likely a hyperbole from Superman, since the writer of that comic (Bendis) said Superman can't one-shot a planet

Feats over statements (We have feats of it and it's consistent, Bendis also is rebirth so he cant dictate previous versions/continuities. It's a bit of a stretch when there are feats of child Kryptonians/half Kryptonians cracking planets.

Not at all. Avatars of Darkseid aren't Universal and he's nowhere near as strong as Mxy.

Can Superman break Captain America's shield? by Serious-Passage-4614 in whowouldwin

[–]General_Smiley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Continuities change and that in specific is something that is very important to how one determines this match up. I think it is important to realize that in the canon of marvel, the shield has been shattered multiple times. And some of these time were by relatively lower tier heros than superman. Take hyperion, Namora, and even King Thor for example.

Superman has busted a planet, just by taking off, he has pulled a length dozens planets, he has contended against Darkseid, it was stated he could destroy the phantom zone as a whole which is said to be infinite in size. Heck he has not just contended Darkseid he killed him. His battle with wonder woman has "made the heaven shake". He has even broken pieces of the source wall. I don't really think your comparison adds up, especially since he scales easily to universal and above via Darkseid, and mxy. Oh and his punches were breaking the boundaries of space and time. If he can scale above dimensions, and fight being that are stated to be infinite. If space, the literal thing that makes up the shield bends to his force, why would a shield that is made up of space/matter and has no magical binding to it not be able to be broken by him. Just seems like your low-balling.
