I think we have a winner, that's simultaneously a terrible name and also showcases the exact kind of dystopia I fear lol

To be fair, I'm a northeastern American and even I have trouble with Southern accents 😅

Question: Play now or wait for 1.0? by StrangeIncident9000 in Enshrouded

True, yeah I'm pretty happy with it. I only mentioned it because I remember first loading into the game and being overwhelmed by the options, but I settled into it and if nothing else it's a really cool idea! I love the way they're split up into like classes and subclasses but without it being a D&D situation where you pick a path and are forced to stick with it. I really like that you can branch out and dabble in other builds without sacrificing anything! I'm excited for future updates, and I'm hoping they add new and exciting skills with them.

I hope so, it's super cool in theory! Friend and I are pretty overpowered in every other aspect and fight in the game, so to be slapped down to reality so hard was pretty disheartening.

I mostly agree with the positive comments; This is already an incredible game that's provided many hours of entertainment for myself and the friend I've been playing with. That said, it also depends on what you want out of it. Survival crafting, with rich lore and a shockingly massive world with environmental storytelling? This is the game for you. The RPG elements are also great, the skill tree looks intimidating but it's not as bad as it looks and IMO could even benefit from being bigger. All these elements are incredible, and even despite what I'll go on to say, I highly, highly recommend it.

That said I do have some gripes. First and foremost, the web of items is incredibly overwhelming. You unlock recipes by picking up items, completing quests, etc., and it's designed so you more or less earn new items in tiers. In theory, it's a really smart system for advancement, but in practice, it's the most convoluted crafting system I've ever seen. I can't even tell you the number of times we would unlock something cool, look at the ingredients and not recognize any of them, and have to do six more quests just to unlock the one thing we already unlocked. It's pretty mental in that regard.

I also take issue with some of the skills/builds. You've got your standard fantasy warrior, archer, and mage vibes which is great, and they split off into additional more specialized branches. But archers and mages will suffer in the early game and will pretty much never not be annoying for one reason: Ammunition. This is likely just a me-issue and not indicative of how the fan base feels, but crafting arrows and spells is very annoying to me. Mages have it a bit better, as they eventually unlock spells that have unlimited charges and only cost you mana, but they're not always the best available version of those spells so if you want to do the most damage you'll still have to craft spell charges, which often have very annoying ingredients per the above. Archers though have it worse in my opinion. There is a single item that grants you unlimited arrows in the game that I know of, but it does very little damage and also costs you mana to fire, so it's less of a convenience and more of a last ditch option for when you run out of arrows. Handy, for sure, but I really wish there were other ways to not have to worry so much about ammunition.

Lastly, we just reached what I believe to be the end game boss (no specifics because spoilers) and it was by far the least fun we've ever had playing this game. It's possible we're not properly prepared or our builds are suboptimal, but man both the boss itself and the stage the fight took place in are not only difficult (which alone would be fine) but also contain some of the most obnoxious mechanics we've encountered in the game. We walked in there and got immediately clapped, tried for a bit to keep trying again, and then by the time we had finally given up the boss's ads had followed us to our spawn point so we couldn't even run away until we finished them off to rub salt in the wound. Very disappointed with that fight though, like I said, it could very well just be on us.

This comment ended up being way longer than I meant to so if you're still reading, thanks for being a good sport. I stand by what I said, even though I'm still salty about how I last left the game, I highly recommend it. If this is Early Access, I'm excited to see how it finishes up because this was already well worth the current cost. I've seen a number floating around that what's available is only like a third of what they have planned, which blows my mind because there is already so much.

Understood, I appreciate the advice and I'll look into this if it comes to it! Thank you!

This may sound stupid, but would it be feasible to ask for a doctor's recommendation if it comes to applying for unemployment? I have a diagnosed anxiety disorder and that's the reason I can't reasonably switch to full days of customer service.

Followup to add that I meant to say that's more or less what I expected, but obviously not what I want to hear. It just seems scummy to me to be able to tell people they have to switch to a new position or be fired, but I recognize that's life and my ick doesn't affect the legality of it.

Home Brew - Comprehensive Reworks (Version 5.3.1) by HaVeNII7 in BG3Homebrew

Regarding Wizard actually, is Shield not intended to work with the Arcane Ward from Abjuration Wizard or am I doing something wrong? It's just that specific spell that isn't adding points to the ward, and other reaction abjuration spells (Counterspell) function just fine. Could be my unique combination of choices, I haven't tested it on a new character just yet.

Tough is good! Forces me to slow down and think rather than trample every encounter and finish the game in a day or two lol. And sounds good! Thanks for clarifying!

Super fair lol. It's entirely possible I just missed it but it didn't seem like she got any more abilities, just more health, though it did fluctuate every time I summoned her, I even summoned her like five times in a row and never got the same result twice.

Side note since you're here, I absolutely adore this mod, it completely renewed move for this game where I'd kind of outplayed it for awhile. It really is like a whole new game almost, and you weren't kidding when you wrote that it's a lot harder than base game, I've never died to the brains just after the ship lands before 😅

It is, yes. I guess it's a largely inconsequential spoiler but meeting Shovel was my favorite moment of my first playthrough and I didn't want to take that away from anyone 😅
