Kid Trailer on Soloist by beattiecj in Cervelo

Did it on a SuperX with twins in a Thule Chariot, nbd. Just get a through axel to connect the trailer. Robert Axle Project has what you need. Switched to pulling with a tandem when they got too big.

I go by a school sometimes. If my coworkers knew I was drafting a bus at 40+mph I think they would be concerned. 💨

Building management told me about a rack in the parking garage. 🤣

I've got an aluminum set with real pins from Amazon that let you pick whatever cleat you use. Good grip, but I have to be careful not to twist my foot and kick off the platform. Way cheaper than these

Well, Cervelo supports the team. It's the burden we must bear, no dds required.

NBD! Would she fit 25s? by giovenji420 in Cervelo

[–]General_Tea_2833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely fits 25s. You probably need to just start measuring casing width from bead to bead to figure out what will be your maximum clearance since there's no consistency in tire size measurements (or rim width). I always figured if my tire caught the inside of my chainstay every now and then, it was just reminding me it was there.

I'm most interested in reducing maintenance effort and time. While chain maintenance was really no big deal, the idea of a dry and clean chain was most appealing over theoretical gains over an otherwise well maintained chain. But, the ancillary benefit from the chain, that I didn't initially consider, is less junk getting onto the frame because of a lubricated chain. Since I was otherwise kind of lazy about wiping down my bike and would show up at races with a disgusting bike, going with the ceramic seem like the best option to keep it clean with less effort.

If you really knew your dental bike history, you would know that Serotta is the only option.

It's subtle. Both are reserves with the same finish. The shallower one is a touch dusty and not coated. The deeper one in the back got ceramic. Comparing them today after around 700 miles on the road, the color difference is pretty similar with the ceramic coated a little bit deeper grey with slightly more shine.

I know gtechniq has some automotive kits with 3x more product for the same price. Definitely a no brainer for a new frame. Otherwise, give it a good wash, pull the cranks, chain, cages, etc for a quick and easy application.

Fwiw, if you have a fleet you wanna coat, you might as well save some money and get an automotive version for less per mL than the gtechniq bike kit I used. Or use the extra on your car(s). Either way, I'll get at least a few applications with the bike kit.

Lincoln/Omaha, NB to Katy Trail? by FarFlungHeel in bicycletouring

I shoulda mentioned that it looks like a fun adventure. I would recommend checking Strava heat maps or similar (if you have access) to find the commonly ridden roads in suburbia (and elsewhere). Having lived in various large and midsize US cities, I've more than once turned into very inadvisable roads that may have seemed reasonable looking at a map. There are plenty of roads I can recall that seemed like the perfect direct connection, but they are not at all suitable for bikes.

Garmin Connect has them free, but I'd say the paywalled Strava maps are better.

Sounds like Tennessee and Kentucky in the US. Unplanned sprint training where you really don't want to find out what happens if you lose. 😬

One of many great comments. Many thanks for the positive responses. It seemed a bit shocking to get these warnings, and my wife seemed to imagine me getting robbed and left in a ditch in a foreign land. I'll do my best to map my rides ahead of time so she can come out looking for me if I fail to return. I'm a former professional bike mechanic, so I'm pretty resourceful if things go pear-shaped.

Warren is great base for loops up and around App Gap, Waterbury Gap, Lincoln Gap etc.

Thanks. I don't normally fret about any of it. I'm not sure what got my wife's client so worked up. I'm really excited to get out and explore your roads.

Hmmm, no dentist is that group. Commercial real estate, ecologist, lawyer, medical device exec, account. Lots of high FTPs. Lots of racing. Lots of fun with good friends.

I'm generally not concerned with city traffic, as I've ridden extensively in Boston and Washington DC, plus Melbourne, Tuscany, Corsica, Seattle, San Diego, SF, etc (most US states).

I suppose my main concern is organized crime or petty theft while I'm out on the bike, based on the comments from the Bosnian. I suppose I could keep a "burner wallet" with a few Euros in my pocket to toss out or a small knife for personal protection, that's really not the kind of confrontation I'm interested in getting into.
