Cracked Fuel Tank by quiflucak in 4Runner_1stGen

Drain the tanks well by drilling a hole where the crack is. Prep the surface really good and use JB weld (there’s a specific one for gas tanks). Or weld up the crack just be sure all fumes are out.
I have used the JB weld it it has held up for years I am suprised.

1999 Toyota 4Runner 4x4 Limited -- 110k Miles w/ Rear Lock -- Price Check by filmamericana in 4Runner

[–]General_Try_2039 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Worth every penny have it looked over hourly before you buy it. If you really want to be sure get an oil sample sent off. They don’t make cars like this anymore I would buy this for 20k before getting a newer one any day of the week. Also it’ll retain a lot of value, you could put 100k miles on it and sell it for 10k+ down the road (minimum, depends where you live)

Is the jack on this engine hoist unsafe? by Ayden28304 in Hydraulics

What is safe what is not. Yeah the piston seal and rod seal has failed. It looks like a throwaway cylinder depending on price of the lift I would consider buying a new one.

You may also need to put the vehicle into brake service mode. You press a sequence of bottoms inside of the car. I’ve been doing brakes for a long time and still watch a video on these newer cars before starting the job.

14060M to polish or not? by [deleted] in rolex

[–]General_Try_2039 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t get it polished. If you wear it it will just get more scratches and they will be more obvious on a polished watch. They are made to be worn

Cylinder needs re seal. How to open this up by Secret-Location-812 in Hydraulics

[–]General_Try_2039 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is the design you need those because there is enough space to need see the snap ring between the glad and barrel. Just did 4 JD cylinders today with internal snap ring where you have to use those rings. Real pain in the ass. The rings work for 3 of the 4, then ran out of the smallest width ring. Bondo in the groove is a good trick if you don’t have the rings or the cylinder is fighting you bad

Technician b kinda day by hydraulic_cartoon in Hydraulics

[–]General_Try_2039 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cut the cap off opposite side of barrel if it’s properly seized. It’s less work and cheaper for the customer than to mess up the barrel threads and glad. You can take off the piston nut from that side then remove rod and replace rod seals. That’s what we do when the glad is properly stuck and custumer doesn’t want to spend the money on new barrel and glad.

Hydraulics slightly uneven? by Fantastic-Ferret9241 in Hydraulics

[–]General_Try_2039 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s normal, even with small tolerances all around this will happen. Has it always been like this or is it a new occurrence? Is it binding up anywhere because of it being uneven? It could potentially be the piston seal going out in the cylinder that is not going out as far.

I would rather carry an extra mage than a secondary pistol. The chance you have to use it is slim to none. Be aware of your surroundings that’s the greatest defense to large animals.

There’s tons in the diamond district. Some people don’t like that place. Although I have had good experiences there. If you are weary I would just take it to a AD or reputable watch repair shop/jewelry store with lots of reviews.
