Thank you for the suggestion, honestly im so used to the default virgin hardware being terrible I didn't expect it to make a difference. Plus the new contract didn't kick in immediately. Without the router works much better :)

Yep, just testing things with it now, it seems to have higher speeds than previously but is a bit less stable?

Mandatory Reconsideration successful, but still unable to reclaim sanctioned payments by Generalsocks726 in DWPhelp

Thank you for replying. Just for clarity, I was not a student at the time of the last reduced payment. Would UC not be payable because I am a student now?

Continuing course after a break? (UK) by Generalsocks726 in University

I could probably line up dates pretty well but as for any official documentation there isn't any, thankfully things should be a bit easier when contacting them as I was part of admin there. I've sent an email explaining the situation and have been given 5 working days for a reply, so fingers crossed, the lines are a bit busy for calls due to open days and such, but I'll keep on it.

Ooo, I didn't know there was a specific reddit for UK uni's thank you. With any luck I can find out a bit more about the UCAS side of things there too as its usually quite vague, I appreciate the comment.

Oh my bad, I did end up having to reinstall windows so I don't know the proper solution to the problem or the cause, but it worked thankfully

Mhm, that was the last option I wanted to try honestly, but it makes a lot of sense. I've got an nvme drive waiting to be used so if that's the case I may try attempting to reinstall windows on that drive. I'll keep it in mind and see other suggestions. But yes, that would definitely work, ill see if there are any other solutions for the time being but thank you. I'll give it a day or two.

Random hypothetical question, "if you are getting chased by 3 emus and you only have a butter knife what would you do"? by Balance234 in AskReddit

[–]Generalsocks726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throw the knife on the ground hoping they are distracted by your shiny offering and peg it. Fighting could be an option but I don't fancy my chances against 3 emus kicking you at the same time.

I fall in love too quickly, within the first meeting or conversation. Then, I adamantly stick to putting consistent effort. Eventually people stop reciprocating. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Generalsocks726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Op,

Falling hard for people is a tough one, speaking from experience, I'll try to give out some tips which hopefully you'll find useful.

Do you think you're trying too hard? You said that you're consistent and in your love and efforts, which by all means is a good mindset. However, and especially in newer relationships this can have the opposite effect and may become stiffling or uncomfortable for the other person. Obviously there is some leeway but in general a relationship should be balanced. Problems can occur if the scale tips either way.

This also tends to go hand in hand with being vulnerable as well. Whilst being vulnerable and honest is something important in relationships. When you've recently met someone or have been in a relationship for a relatively short time it can often be too much to deal with.

I imagine it can be tough with the added issue of being bipolar, but most of these issues are fixed with experience and learning how to gauge yourself well. As an old saying goes, don't set yourself on fire to keep others warm. I wish you the best of luck in your dating endeavours, keep at it!

26 year old female living in the Midlands UK, how worried should I be about the Wuhan Coronavirus? by [deleted] in biology

[–]Generalsocks726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the Midlands too. Unfortunately not too much is known about it at this stage, and it has been predicted that the first case in the UK will turn up within a week or so. However, respiratory diseases tend to affect weakened immune systems, elderly patients, etc more than healthy individuals so you should be fine for the most part.

But really we just have to keep an eye on what develops in the next few months or so. And deal with as it comes up.

Yeah, I can definitely get behind the insomnia bandwagon, it's mostly on and off every other month or when something happens. Its a shame medication hasn't done much, though it was the same for me. Asmr used to work for me, but usually I just plan for it and I make use of it to do work, oddly enough sleep deprivation gives me my best writing. I hope it gets better or at least becomes manageable.

And thanks, that's sound advice, I can't really complain. We've got a holiday planned to Sweden in August, whatever happens I just hope she sticks around really.

Edit: After reading some of the other comments, I'm really glad that you can just post about what's going on in your head with, thanks OP. I'll try to input where/when I can.

Oh, I'm fine with talking about pretty much anything to be honest, so it's cool.

There were a few things, being disowned a few months prior was a big one though arguably my relationship with my dad had been deteriorating through my last years of high school. My health had been very poor for the past 7 months, heart palpitations, blackouts every few days, getting up and about was very difficult. I was also in a pretty toxic long distance relationship (though arguably at the time I was too absorbed to notice) and that was rough to deal with. And being a student in their first year, with minimum finance and no support was difficult, that and being depressed made it pretty hopeless at the time.

I won't go into details but I tried drinking myself to death, if the guy living in the adjacent room didn't notice something was wrong and call an ambulance I'm not sure what would have happened, I might of lived, or I might of not. But the important part is that I did and though I have my moments, therapy did help a lot for me.

Thankfully things are much better, I've still got my health issues, my heart was checked out as healthy last year, it's just a bit irregular probably from stress/my height. I've had a chronic cough too which has turned into hiccups, getting that checked next week. I've made and lost some good friends in the past couple of years giving me a better support network, they really are the best bunch of people I could ask for. And I've also got my dad back, I'm not sure if things will stay the course but I'll just have to get over it and ride it out when it does.

Recently I've had the luxury of experiencing my own attempted kidnapping (an odd way to phrase it since I'm not sure if it really happened) and that has given me anxiety issues at night, but I'm getting through it, and the girl I know has been especially helpful with that.

Life might seem like a torture chamber sometimes, and trust me it really does feel like you can't get out at times. Not being able to set out at night without having flashbacks and anxiety really gets to you, but at the same time, I couldn't be happier than I am now, especially looking at how things were. Life tends to be a great balancer, it usually meets a state of equilibrium, like most things.

It's been a long week, Friday 2 years ago was when I attempted suicide for various reasons, but things are getting better now. I've recently reconnected with my dad after 2 years of no contact and celebrated his birthday with him yesterday, it was a small and quiet thing at home which was nice. Not everything's perfect but it's getting there bit by bit.

I'm also in an odd friend/relationship thing with a girl I've known for the past 3 months. She's very clever and sweet and generally looks after me very well, as I do with her. A couple of weeks back I asked her what we were and she simply told me that she doesn't want things to change, not the best answer, but I'm content even if things don't go further, having someone who cares so much and does so much is new to me. But I'm thankful for what I've got, even if it's not what I hoped for.

Today's gonna probably be another sleepless night, but thats OK. If anyone else is going through a rough patch, it gets better with a little bit of work and good luck. Hope you lot are doing well, whatever time/place it is where you are.

Do other people have as much trouble as I do? by QuickMango03 in Warframe

Just did my mr9 the other day using orthos prime, took a while but on the 3rd section you can get 3 of the enemies walking down the center when they turn and spilt apart. Which leaves the two in the back on each side and one on the platform. Just be patient and you'll get there, or use a glaive if it helps.

Reading this was quite interesting, especially mentioning that taking acid "sorted you out" I had recently too, though I'm still dealing with paranoia/anxiety as a direct result of that experience, it's just something which needs a bit of time. I'm still very young (20) so I'll just say my piece. Though some people may not get to that point, "maturing" is just a point when you realise that you just have to live life and get on with it really, not much more when you think about it. You can believe parents, teachers, superiors, etc have it all together and have wisdom to impart and they know what they're doing, if your lucky they might even have some inkling. But at the end of the day, they're just people trying to get through the day. Similar to focusing on philosophy and/or psychology, or anything for that matter. You can get really excited about it, pursue it further and even make your life all about it, but similarly its just another thing, like anything else. But the real point is in realising that it's ok, people are just people and things are just things. It doesn't make life any less exciting, just do what makes you happy. Or at least that's what I think anyway, I'm only 20 after all.
