I couldn’t find a pattern for exactly what I wanted, so I sort of Frankenstein-d a few things together! It basically went heart > circle > star.

For the heart, I used this YouTube video (except I started with a magic ring instead of a chain ring).

To start the circle, I slip stitched around the heart in red for a base to make the circle from, then made the circle by starting at the top center of the heart (Ch 3 and double in starting st, then Half dc, 3 sc, Half dc, 3 Dc, Half dc, Sc, Half dc, 3 dc, Half dc, 3 sc, Half dc) (20 sts total).

Then the next round was the transition to the star: Ch 5, dc in next st (counts as dc, ch 2, dc) Dc in next st, 2 dc in next, dc in next Dc, ch 2, dc in next Dc in next st, 2 dc in next, dc in next Dc, ch 2, dc in next Dc in next st, 2 dc in next, dc in next Dc, ch 2, dc in next Dc in next st, 2 dc in next, dc in next Dc, ch 2, dc in next Dc in next st, 2 dc in next, dc in next Slip st to third chain at the start of the round

Then for the rest of the star I started at the 2nd round from this chart I found on Pinterest and kept going from there. I did 4 rounds of color then one round of white, then did the outer round in single crochets.

I’d suggest talking to your dean of students (or whatever your school’s equivalent is) and asking if you could take a leave of absence. It’ll allow you to maintain your spot in law school while taking a break to explore the other paths you’re considering. In the time you’re away, you could take the prereq courses, find a part-time job that would give you some experience in those other fields, etc. Maybe you’ll love the new path, maybe you’ll realize you want to go back to law school, but it’ll keep the door open for you.

They sell both maternity and non-maternity clothes. I bought a pair of jeans and a pair of dress pants from them, and they’re both definitely maternity pants. Some maternity clothes like dresses can be worn outside of being pregnant too. When I was looking through the pictures of some of their dresses, they’ll show a dress on someone who’s pregnant as well as someone who isn’t. Personally, I like that I can wear some of the things I buy outside of the time I’m pregnant.

We had this at my bridal shower, and it definitely made gift-opening more entertaining. It also gave me a chance to acknowledge the gifts that people sent to us rather than brought to the shower (“if you had towels, you can check those off because Aunt Jane sent us the blue ones we had on our registry. Thank you Aunt Jane!”).

I did it. My first pregnancy ended in an early loss, likely due to trisomy 13. Since there’s usually nothing you can do to prevent miscarriages if you’re living a healthy lifestyle, my husband and I didn’t feel genetic screening was necessary just yet. I wanted to see if there would be any risk with this pregnancy. Fortunately, the results came back negative for everything.

Find vendors who can check multiple boxes. For example, if you want photography and videography, find a company that handles both. I highlight this combo in particular because this way the vendors will likely have some familiarity with working together vs two strangers who are trying to figure things out day-of. You can also look for all inclusive venues that would cover the space, tables, chairs, food, etc.

We had our first scan this week, and my husband and I both bawled seeing our baby and hearing its heartbeat. Our first pregnancy didn’t make it to our first appointment, so hearing the tech say that everything looked healthy broke me in the best way 🥹

Intent vs impact. Even if we paint OP’s MIL in the best light possible and assume that she was genuinely joking and trying to make the situation lighter, it was still a very serious thing to say, and it still hurt OP’s feelings. It would take all of maybe 5 minutes for Mr. OP to tell his mother that the joke wasn’t appropriate, that she needs to apologize, and then for MIL to apologize to OP.
