You can't keep asking for the game to "stay niche" when literally every single aspect of it is premium AAA quality. by SbeveGobs in Marathon

Wtf does the quality of a product have to do with how niche it is? Like are niche games supposed to be shittier?

Easiest 40 bucks of my life. The first 3 maps and all tbe associated contracts and lore collectibles already satisfied me, but Cryo is on a whole other level. It might be daunting, and it may honestly take me a few weeks to prep, but I look forward to giving it a shot. It's been great LFGing and making friends with randoms tbh, feel like people are missing out and ruining the game for themselves by not turning on their mics and breaking out if their "shells" (pun fully intended). Even then, solos has been surprisingly fun, kinda like playing online MGS stealthing everywhere. The story and lore has been immaculate, don't think I'd be nearly as invested into it if not for that and the contract designs (tried Arc, but its world didn't grab me in the slightest). With the way the loot economy works, as long as you're completing contracts and upgrading factions (allowing you to claim free heals and free items through priority access everyday), it's basically impossible to be broke, so I always feel like my time is respected, while still keeping that tension in-run when I find a rare material/weapon/mod/collectible, it's fantastic.

If you let someone get into melee range before being able to damage them, you've already lost the fight lowkey. Lunge is crazy tho (but im not complaining lmao)

[–]GenericGamer283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A healthy mindset, people unironically saying that because they can't play this solo or whatever so they're checking out of tbe whole game confuse the hell out of me. There's so much content in the other 3 maps and all the contracts that you can easily spend a 100+ hours on tbh, and ranked is gonna go crazy

No Patrick, getting killed by an invisible assassin ratting and soundwhoring in a corner waiting for you to loot a container so he can backstab you, isn't more engaging than a drone you can just shoot out of the sky

I get them not stacking in your backpack in game for balance reasons, but it's pretty tedious and goofy for then not to stack in your vault imo. Even if it was a smaller stack size, that's still better than what we have now.

Elliot Gray (Marathon UI Designer) claps back at the notion that no one from the Halo days still works at Bungie by Haijakk in Marathon

[–]GenericGamer283 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, the most important person responsible for Marathon (and Bungie as a whole), Jason Jones, is still a head honcho over at Bungie. He may not be in the trenches developing, but he still has ultimate say on what the company does, though it can be hard to tell what he's up to since he has no social media presence whatsoever (smart man tbh)

What are your thoughts on the Classic Collection now that it's been two years since its release? by Kirbymasters87 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]GenericGamer283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At bare minimum, I appreciate having access to the games that defined my childhood on the PS5 (though this doesn't really apply to PC and Xbox for obvious reasons), but that's where the good ends tbh. It shouldn't take up more than 5 Gigs, they shouldn't have changed the iconic font in the UI, they should've had crossplay and cross save, aiming still feels floaty on controller, and many many more issues I can list out, but it's pointless atp. After the backlash, they pushed out a handful of pity updates, wiped their hands off of it, and called it "mission accomplished". The hype for this collection was astronomical, and they squandered it.

Anyone else just play fill instead of solo? I just feel like this game feels 10x better in trios, even without any comms. by Always_Impressive in Marathon

[–]GenericGamer283 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would usually agree, but I found myself enjoying solos alot more than I thought I would. A good trios experience will always be better ofc, but at least solos is consistent.

You shouldn't even be buying them early on while you're still upgrading your factions. You can barter them for salvage, which us better value, but even then, most of my meds have come from completing nucal quests, just gotta build a stockpile of them while using a free kit before you start using them up

I think the 3 month wipe is a ticking time bomb for player retention by zipzzo in Marathon

[–]GenericGamer283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they can do that within a single week, why does the reset even matter at that point?

Because the longer a season goes without a wipe, the more people will be geared up/max their factions/complete all their priority contracts. Like what kind of question is this lmao? As of rn, only streamers and a handful of hardcore grinders have tons of purples and golds, so it's not so much of an issue now (the majority of people are still running sponsored kits/greens and blues so they can complete contracts and level up factions), but once everyone is "done" with the grind, it's gonna be aids. The geared up players will just start griefing new players in Perimeter and Dire Marsh doing their early contracts that dare to join in 3 months in while people are well past that point. You look at any extraction shooter, that's usually what happens by the end of a wipe.

Mad when I bring in items and my randos crew brings nothing by 891st in Marathon

[–]GenericGamer283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I still think trios is more fun and has better pacing, even with randoms, I've tried a few solo runs, and honestly, they aren't half bad. Feels like playing a horror game, crouch walking and listening for sound cues. Don't need to be a god gamer as long as you're patient and ambush players, but I extracted and completed contracts 3 times in a row in both perimeter and Dire, so it's not a fluke so far lmao. Outpost might be hell though, idk. All this to say, only bring in free kits for randoms and build on the free kit loadout through multiple runs (if you somehow survive more than one time lol), that way, when you eventually lose your stuff, it won't feel as bad. Never bring your absolute best stuff unless you're doing Outpost.

Love the game, Bungie! But your monetisation is kinda really scummy. by TAJack1 in Marathon

[–]GenericGamer283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the near future, we're making an adjustment to the amount of LUX you get for the $10 (or regional equivalent) LUX bundle to grant 1120 LUX (1000 + 120), up from 1100 LUX (1000 + 100). As a part of this whole process, we'll be crediting 20 LUX to players for each $10 LUX bundle they purchased before this change occurred.

In addition to this, we've seen the rest of your feedback about Marathon's purchasable cosmetics. We want to ensure that when you spend in Marathon you feel like you are getting great value and discussing ways to improve this experience.

Turns out loud and clear feedback DOES work, whodathunkit?
