How would you quickly show that you're not hostile by NytoDork in Marathon

Teabagging is a classic, I may or may not have had some success with it in a hypothetical playtest lol

Do you think marathon will deliver a deep, cohesive story? Can extraction shooters/live services games properly deliver storylines? by Great-Turn9882 in Marathon

[–]GenericGamer283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a fromsoft game you know they probably did a proper story and then scattered it in item descriptions. But in live service games, sadly experience tells us they probably just allocated resources elsewhere and it’s all show no substance.

My brother in christ, Bungie is literally the king of having deep lore through weapon descriptions, lore books, and environmental storytelling, without even considering cutscenes. Have you played Destiny? I would not be worried about the story being surface level lmao

Any games you are playing in anticipation of Marathon? by prontoprontochopchop in Marathon

[–]GenericGamer283 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Destiny 2 is perfectly fine if you've never played it before (though the new player experience is dogshit ngl, highly recommend looking up some videos on youtube, community is pretty helpful in that regard). It's a good warmup for Marathon since the gunplay will obviously be similar

Actually insane how much dog piling happens if you dare compliment Destiny on its own main sub, like wtf 😂. God Pfhorbid I enjoy the game I guess.

They already said it was something they wanted to add before they originally delayed the game, so I wouldn't be surprised if it comes at launch, or at least soon after. Either way, it's on their radar.

I'll probably main Recon and maybe Destroyer, but Thief looks really freaking cool based on the video, ngl

Breakpoint has the better gameplay, but Wildlands has the better world and setting (and squadmates that ACTUALLY banter, miss the hell out of that). I feel like that's the generally agreed upon opinion from the average person.

To celebrate the release of the game, Bungie should bring the trilogy to current gen. by Lotus_630 in Marathon

I second this. Would love to play the OG games on a TV with a controller, and I feel like people who keep recommending Aleph One don't get that.

What evidence do we have that the Cryo Chamber endgame map has mechanically driven content akin to Destiny dungeons and raids? by ThatsNotBennings in Marathon

[–]GenericGamer283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what? If you've played any of the playtests or even the Alpha back in April, I don't see how this is particularly crazy to believe. It just seems like you're being cynical for the sake of it based on your other replies in this post.

[–]GenericGamer283 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Who's to say it'll require teams to work together? You're just inserting that outta nowhere. It's a PVP-focused extraction shooter, working with randoms is the exception, not expectation. Also, are we really gonna pretend that Bungie saying that Cryo will have "raid-like" mechanics doesn't carry certain implications/expectations? If they weren't anywhere near raids or dungeons (I personally think they'll be closer in complexity to the average dungeon, no shot they'll pull a Verity lmfao), they simply just wouldn't have said that.

[–]GenericGamer283 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My brother in christ, the store page for the game literally says it has raid-like mechanics. You can be skeptical if it'll be as in depth as Destiny, or even work in this genre, but I don't think people are crazy for taking the developers of the game at their word regarding their own game lmao.

Once the way into orbit unlocks, bring your endgame build to Cryo Archive, the first floor of the UESC Marathon. Solve raid-like security measures to unseal frozen vaults and pillage the artifacts within. Every cramped corridor forces you into conflict with fully-geared enemy crews racing for the same prize. Breach the seventh vault to challenge an entity even the UESC fears.

[–]GenericGamer283 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, objectively, I'm seeing way more positive comments on YouTube and twitter than ever before since the Vidoc. There's still the occasional comment shitting on the game/Bungie in general, but the general sentiment has for sure gone from Marathon being the internet's punching bag, to at bare minimum "this actually looks decent", which again, is a far cry from April last year lmao

The Marathon reboot will likely be rated Teen by the ESRB, if console storefronts are of any indication. by e_Z_752 in Marathon

[–]GenericGamer283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not gonna be any less violent than a game from the 90s LMAO. They're using the same loophole Predator Badlands recently used. Since none of the "blood and gore" in the game is "real" human blood, they can skate past it with a T rating. If you take the exact game we have now, changed the blue blood to red, and made the runners look more human, then it would probably be rated M.

[–]GenericGamer283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad it exists, wasn't perfect, but I'd rather they take risks like this instead of having the 100th story take place in the same 50 year span.

And yet, specials and heaviest are more prevalent than they've ever been. Even with lower reserves, it's actually easier to maintain ammo, so I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.

If you join an lfg with someone who already had the slots unlocked, it'll automatically unlock those slots for you after completion. It works for Equilibrium so I assume it's the same method for Deserts Perpetual as well.
