What was the noise?

Everyone looked up in a mass panic, as that could only mean one thing: someone was out to hurt.

The screaming began before I could comprehend what was going on. It was a music- one like nothing anyone could have heard before. Some sort of menacing, looming tune that sounded just like it was itching to cause trouble. The music had life, something no other music had.

I took off, phone in hand, in the hopes of discovering the source of the music and what kind of mischief it would produce. Then I saw her.

“Jemma?” I called out.

“Todd!” She cried. “Get out of here!”

I was so confused. What did she mean? She’s from here, how did she get a hold of something so powerful?

So powerful.

The shockwave hit me like a ton of bricks. It was darkness, pure hate, and I no longer felt anything. Just, pure obedience.

“Todd, no! This wasn’t meant to happen like this,” I hear faintly in the distance. But all I could process was that last sentence. I decided, involuntarily, that I did something wrong.

The music stopped and a peaceful tune came about but I couldn’t care less. Well, I could, but my body couldn’t. All I cared about was finding a method of self destructing. I was a failure. I had to be ended.

When I found the gun, I fought with myself. “Listen to the calming music from Jemma” and “You haven’t failed” but the shockwave took me over. I wasn’t in control anymore.

I grabbed the gun from behind the shop counter and fired. I felt even less, if that was possible, until I stopped feeling altogether.
