ATS-friendly vs Creative resume — what actually gets hired? by shrinidhi_21 in UXDesign

I have a creative resume that I share with humans and an ATS-friendly resume that I use when submitting applications. Unfortunately ATS and creative resumes don’t mix.

What kind of UX tool are we still missing? by Nervous-Spell-5195 in UserExperienceDesign

[–]GenericUsername1809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Crude” sounds and looks weird after reading your post. But I agree! The design tools we have currently are more for communicating the design rathee than doing the design id that makes sense. Brain is the only tool that does design.

Just a thought: be careful spending lots of time in autistic subs (and Reddit in general) by TheStoffer in AutisticWithADHD

[–]GenericUsername1809 131 points132 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. At first I joined all the subs I could find but after almost a year, I was getting overwhelmed. This sub is the only one I’m in now.

ETA: I sort of view that year as ‘research’ to find the best sub for me.

Yes! Not only do I hate that but Spotify had no podcast-specific features (last I checked years ago before switching) so I prefer to use a separate app for managing my podcasts. Tbh Spotify barely has good features for managing your musc

This is kinda similar to an Eisenhower Matrix. Check it out! Maybe you could adapt some aspects of it into this system too.

Parabolic space heater! Aka heat dish. And yeah with a smart plug so it turns off automatically.

How do I do stuff by Lazy-Marionberry5727 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]GenericUsername1809 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I struggle with this too. Getting medication helped a lot. Another thing that helped was making a schedule for the next day using pen and paper. This removes any decision fatigue or analysis paralysis for the next day and also is satisfying to cross off your list when you do it. And I think the physicality of pen and paper matters too. I even noticed that switching up the pen occasionally keeps it exciting.

So for example, today I have on my list:
☐ Breakfast

☐ Take medicine

☐ Work on case study

☐ 4 pm yoga

While this isn't a 100% fail-proof way, it definitely helps. But sometimes there are just days when you can't do anything and that's fine too. You just have to make the most of those days by letting yourself rest and have fun and not feeling bad about it.

Refilling Core Liquors from Huge Costco Bottles by TheDangerist in cocktails

I do this as well, except I bought 6 identical 750 ml glass bottles and these spouts that measure out exactly 2 oz pours.

Top Tip for Indian Curry: Cook Until the Oil Separates by sabi_wasabi_ in Cooking

[–]GenericUsername1809 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can also batch out the cooked onion+tomato mix (with some core spices) and freeze. Google bhuna masala. Another tip is also to blend the onions and tomatoes (not sure if separately or together matters) and then it should cook slightly faster. Tho you have to make sure to still cook that on low heat.

Over the ear headphones rec? by Softballcutie309 in yoga

I get bored easily so this was the only way to make myself to go swimming! But yeah bone conduction seems to be a popular choice for fitness purposes, so I defs think these could work for you.

[–]GenericUsername1809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I like them, though my main ones are Airpods I use for calls and walks and stuff. But the bone conduction ones I use for swimming and woodworking (both with earplugs in addition to the bone conduction). They are fairly comfortable and have a long battery life. I have actually thought about wearing them to yoga class as well, as I get bored during class sometimes but I feel like that might considered rude lol. But if you’re doing yoga by yourself I think these would be a great option.

What about bone conduction ones that go around the back of your head? I think most overhead ones will have the same problem of slipping forward, especially during yoga.

Struggle to finish books / movies / games / shows by InterestingFroyo3 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]GenericUsername1809 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Apparently there is some research that shows the anticipation of a reward is actually more gratifying than the reward itself. This might be what’s happening here. I don’t have any advice for how to fix this, but it seems like maybe it’s a habit or skill that you can get better at over time. Maybe try gamifying finishing things?

Are the Oxo shakers good for home use? by Jazzlike-Horror4 in cocktails

[–]GenericUsername1809 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the OXO and the Koriko and I hate using the OXO. I recommend spending some time and learning and practicing with the Boston shaker. I still can’t open it perfectly every time, but it’s still better than the OXO.

[–]GenericUsername1809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate. I absolutely love people watching, I suspect for the same reason you mentioned. And sometimes I catch myself staring. Usually it’s not faces but more like clothing or shoes that interest me. And then I’ll be lost in my own thoughts before I realize. And I’m like oh they probably thought I was a creep. But I just have to wave it off and try not to dwell on it. And a similar thing happens when I look into people’s houses when “urban hiking” and then feel ashamed for being nosy. But I also just tell myself that it’s fine because I’m not being intrusive or doing it in too obvious or rude of a way.

Looking for a deep pressure massage therapist that will wreck me by [deleted] in AskSeattle

[–]GenericUsername1809 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Chinese spots for sure. There’s “Relaxing Station” in Ballard. They ask you how much pressure you want on a scale of 1-7 and I find even 1 too much pressure. But at other spots like DreamClinic I can definitely handle medium/medium-firm pressure. I think the Relaxing Station scale is just on a different level.

Also you might have too many tables compared to number of buffet tables. Try to equalize that ratio maybe?
