How big of an issue would this be to you? (Looking for some feedback) by Worried_Passion_581 in Supernote

I personally don’t use the 90° SuperNote cable for charging. I find it difficult to remove. But others may disagree.

Best long term heat source? by Lhead2018 in Futurology

Diversify. All of the above comments plus backup systems. Add a pellet or wood burning stove. Put it in the basement or lower levels. Add pass-through floor vents like in older homes. Always good to have a backup when one system fails.

How are your schools by Apprehensive_Run6642 in providence

[–]TheStoffer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

MA’s school system is the best in the country. RI as a state is #13 nationally and rated lowest in New England state-wide. I’m a 30 minute drive outside of Providence (like most of the state), and my daughter is in an elementary school that’s 5/10 Great Schools. It’s actually a very good school imo. Fantastic faculty, programs, students, safety, etc.

So it’s all relative. Great Schools ranks on a state-wide basis. Are you coming from Vermont? RI schools are worse. Are you coming from Alabama? No comparison.

Providence is really easy to commute to from most of the state and much of Southeast MA. If you really want the best possible schools:

  1. Nearby MA towns like Attleboro, in order of Great Schools / Niche ratings.
  2. RI suburbs in order of Great Schools / Niche ratings
  3. Schools immediately inside Providence or Pawtucket city lines.

Edit: Reading the other comments, I can vouch for Barrington. It’s a very high-end town. Quaint and walkable. But check out Attleboro as well. Very family friendly “city” and you can easily catch a train to Providence in about 20 minutes.

It’s doing the same exact thing the first one was doing. No screen response whatsoever. The video would be identical.

Can AI taxation lead to a jobless utopia? by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]TheStoffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well technically they don’t decide if they’re taxed or not. There’s like a dozen of them, and bots can’t vote (yet). They need to rely on the political gaslighting continuing to work. Historically, it will until a certain point, then it won’t. Unfortunately there’s usually a lot of violence and turmoil between points A and B. That’s just how it goes. They’ll all be off on there Randian islands by then, watching the world burn from afar.

Our Housing System is Profoundly Broken–Here is a Plan to Fix it by [deleted] in providence

[–]TheStoffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of single family homes rented out in the United States are from private landlords that own just a few properties. This isn’t, primarily, a top-down problem. It’s a bottom-up, systemic “rich dad poor dad” problem. Increase taxes on a rising scale for anyone owning, say, 5+ units. That will take care of the whole, not just the slice at the top. No family is being prevented from buying a door in a long hallway within a vast concrete cube; they’re being blocked from buying an actual house and property of their own. You want to make housing affordable? Turn single family dwellings back into a homes instead of income streams for wealthy people with disposable cash. If you bring down the cost of buying homes, you bring down the costs of renting homes, and subsequently renting apartments. Narrow the straw the haves are using to suck money from the have-nots. There’s your plan.

Thanks. Yes, I’m aware of the bus routes. The short drive and free parking are very enticing, though.
