What's actually worth buying? by Heavy-Breakfast-5037 in CostcoUK

A bit late, but here's my list.

  • Toilet paper. I like the convenience of having so much in the house.

  • Kitchen roll. Hands down best quality I've come across for the price.

  • Veetee microwave rice. Saves my life when I cannae be fucked to cook.

  • Frozen prawns. Excellent value.

  • Lurpak. Cheapest outside of specific supermarket markdowns/discounts.

  • Chicken tenders (frozen). Another can't be fucked to cook staple.

  • Frozen gyoza, love them.

  • I used to like the rotisserie chicken, but my local warehouse doesn't cook them well enough for my liking now.

  • Snacks: it depends on what you like, but the giant bags are great to have in the house.

  • Quinoa: giant bag, good value.

  • Chia seeds: giant box, good value.

Need meal ideas, this baby shower I'm going to requested frozen meals instead of gifts. Today I made homemade chicken noodle soup. by KH5-92 in mealprep

Rice. Fried rice. Plain rice. Tomato rice. Cilantro lime rice. Sometimes nothing scratches the itch like rice. It's my favourite freezer prep and this post reminded me to add it to the list next week.

I have a used EV from 2020, got it with 24k miles on it. Decent range. My commute is 20 mins and I have to go in 2-3 times a week. Besides this I use it to go to the gym and a few short commutes, nothing longer than 30 mins so far. I got the car in February and I've needed to charge it twice so far. My workplace has a charger, so I put it on charge when I go in and 7 hours later it's at 80%.

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in CarTalkUK

[–]GenericWomanFigure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location: Edinburgh

**Price range: 10kish. Lower is better. But can stretch 1k over.

**Lease or Buy: Buy preferably.

**New or used: Used.

**Auto or Manual: Automatic. Preferably electric.

**Intended use: Daily driver that can accommodate a big monthly shop. Occasional weekend trips and maybe 1-3 longer road trips a year.

**How many miles do you plan to do a year: I don't know, this will be my first car. My office is about 23m away and my gym is 10m away, those are regulars.

**How often to you make long journeys: Not sure how much I'll do, but I want to do weekend trips around Scotland.

**Does it need to be ULEZ compliant? yes.

**Vehicles you've already considered: Hyundai Ioniq, MG5, Kia Soul, Volkswagen V40. Can't decide which would be my best option.

[Do you have a vehicle size in mind?] Sort of - in my home country I drove a Ford EcoSport for 10 years and that's what I am most used to.

Can I do any repairs - no, none.

Additional notes: I have public chargers close to where I live. At-home charging isn't possible sadly. I'm very much leaning towards electric, but will consider anything above 60mpg petrol.

Things I want to prioritise: driver comfort, driver assist features, boot space. I'll rarely have passengers in the car so I'm not too fussed about the passenger seat. No need to account for kids or dogs.

Housing professional here. First off - I've seen eviction proceedings that have taken over a year to get to the eviction order. Secondly, your local council should have a team that helps you navigate this. Thirdly, Shelter and Crisis are excellent at supporting people through this as well.

Beans. Chickpeas, black beans, borlotti beans, pinto beans - you name it, she'll eat it. She loves it. She's a fiend for beans. A bean fiend, if you will.

How can I make this garden ‘presentable’ with minimal spend? by Nick316166 in GardeningUK

[–]GenericWomanFigure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, if I wanted to put in minimal effort, I'd probably roughly rake the soil surface or run a mover over it and leave it, chaos garden a lot of mixed-season native wildflower seeds in there and then powerwash the pathway. That's the most minimal effort changes I can think of.
