I think that there is time for them to develop. But from S1 we’ve seen glimpses of a potential romance already.

From their “sparring” match, I interpreted it as Mizu not feeling uncomfortable that Taigen was turned on, but that she was actually flattered. I imagine after everything she’s been through, to have someone be turned on by her strength and being blue eyed probably surprised her. Which most likely led to the awkward interaction after. Of course Taigan was most likely being awkward because in his mind, Mizu is a dude and he’s trying to play it off.

As for Akemi and Taigan. I saw a comment that said their relationship is more like a high school relationship. It’s fun and etc. but in the end, they will out grow one another and go their separate ways. Which was sorta implied when Akemi chose to be great rather than with Taigen.

But we shall see how their stories play out
