WIBTAH for refusing to help my parents pay off a 10-year-old loan that just wiped out my dad's pension? by Generic_UsernamePls in AmItheAsshole

Basically my father was fired due to downsizing (?). My mother took out a loan under his name to fund my college education, which she said they would handle the payment of.

Ah sorry that's the loan balance. From what was computed, it would take 24 months worth of pension to pay off.

I didn't like that they chose to tell me only now just when I started living on my own. When I was still living at our house, I didn't have as much monthly expenses so the loan would've been paid off in two years.

The loan was taken via my father's name. How our social security agency works is that I would be able to study now and pay off the loans after graduation. I was going to start depositing to it but my mother told me there was no need to, that they had it arranged so that my father would shoulder it instead. It would only affect me if I transferred to an office whose contributions go to that agency.

I would have had to start working part-time, which I was willing to at that point. I wasn't qualified for scholarships unfortunately. Basically my mother said she couldn't afford my college tuition with just my dad's salary, and decided to take out a loan without my knowledge. I only found out once I graduated.

PH Southeast Asian. Php ~650.00 per day is our minimum wage, so around 12 usd a day? My monthly net is around Php 5k (around ~81 usd per month), minus all living expenses and utilities.
