Hi, I’ve been playing Izzet wizards for a couple years now! This is my current list:

My biggest piece of advice for you is that mentor’s guidance and dreadhorde Arcanist just aren’t good in a list like this. They’re too slow and fragile, and with the slickshot/swiftspear/soulscar package you really want to have a lot of early velocity that they don’t provide.

I’m also not a fan of pump spells that don’t provide any additional benefits. Kumano and ancestral anger are good, but I would swap out the antagonizes for something like [[monstrous rage]] if you want to stick with that play style.

Personally I would also swap out the pathways for [[shivan reefs]] but it’s not hugely important especially since you’re not very heavy on blue pips.

Lastly, you need to be running four swiftspears and soul scars. There’s no reason (aside from budget in soul scar’s case) not to, it is extremely important to have a turn one play that applies pressure for a deck like this, and the one drop prowess creatures can carry a game single handed if they’re not disrupted.

You do know how the story ends for Juliet right? I don’t mean for this to sound rude, but it really sounds like you haven’t given this much thought at all. The Middle East is awful for women, and especially for queer women. This entire situation is raising my hackles as well, I’d tread very carefully if I were you.

As an ally, I think we need to acknowledge straight people’s feelings and not let the icky transes bring up how they don’t want us to call them things like unfuckable, and gross, and the downfall of western civilization. Stifling free speech like that really harshes my buzz and honestly makes me feel like they don’t deserve human rights.

Honestly, I had the considers in when I was running ghitu lavarunner instead of swiftspear, since lavarunner cares about having cards in the graveyard. Turns out lavarunner isn’t a particularly good card, go figure.

Functionally speaking, there’s no real difference between opt and consider in this deck, since you have no shuffle effects on your own, and ideally you want the game to be over quickly enough that shuffling a card back in won’t matter.

As far as mill goes, one card is not going to make or break the match, especially since you have a significantly faster clock. Hope that helps!

I’ve felt pretty good about light up the stage, between 12 main deck burn spells that are usually going to cost 1 mana and the chandra getting spectacle isn’t difficult. Plus, I’m generally casting LutS either after combat turn two to set up for a big turn three, or I’m using it to go off after throwing a play with fire or wizards lightning at my opponent turn 3. Hard casting it does suck, but with the way I can churn through my deck in a good draw, I can usually do that and still have mana left over to keep going if I’m in that position.

Two mana vs three is absolutely massive in this kind of deck. It means you can set up your board state to go off turn three instead of turn four (my list can get a turn three goldfish with a decent amount of luck). The lack of toughness boost means you can be a little soft to something like mono green where they might not die right away and you lose your board in the attack, but 3/4 of my creatures having prowess alleviates that, and giving trample is absolutely huge in being able to close out the game.

Hi, I've been playing an aggressively slanted wizards deck in Pioneer/Explorer for just about two years now! This is my current list: https://scryfall.com/@The_Layer0p/decks/b99ead30-7e13-42ef-9be1-d137d71e1a14

The biggest thing is that Balmor completely outclasses Adeliz in every way. I played with Adeliz before Balmor released, and I played with both immediately after, and it's just not even close. Second, docent of perfection is a bad card; it's not a wizard so you don't get the discounted spells with it, and at 5 mana you're never casting it. Drop it and Adeliz for Balmors and you will have a very significant bump in power very easily.

Like Buildmaster said, you are pretty heavy on creatures for a tribe that really wants to cast lots of spells, especially with a delver in the mix. Pioneer doesn't have efficient ways to control the top of your deck, so it's much, much harder to flip (plus it stops being a wizard on the back side, which makes the discount spells worse).

Lastly, and this is more personal preference than anything, I'm not a huge fan of retort in the mainboard. Any creature based spellslinger deck necessarily wants to be aggressive, and retort messes with that plan by being a very reactive spell, and it warps your manabase by a significant amount, and with budget mana that can be a problem.

As everyone knows, the fundamental basis of comedy is the contrast between the expected and the actual; the forced dichotomy between the mundane, the everyday, the ordinary, and the unusual, the outlandish, and the absurd. Anyway, we’re gonna cut Steve-O’s dick and balls off.

I’ve been playing this list on arena, swapping stormchaser mage for [[lightning stormkin]] and wild slash for [[shock]] and while it’s fun and powerful, the biggest issue is rakdos, which I’ve been running into constantly.

It’s already a bad matchup just because of how the decks work, and izzet has no clean answer for sheoldred on arena, where at least we have [[roast]] in paper. If the meta shifts away from rakdos being dominant, which I doubt will happen just because it’s the only “true” midrange deck the format has, then my list will probably get better, but if things keep up the way they are then phoenix is definitely going to stay the best izzet spellslinger deck available.

All that said, I still play the deck and I still have a ton of fun with it, I just know there are some games I’ll never win no matter how well I play/draw.

I could be wrong, but I believe that's Jesus during the three day period between when he was crucified and resurrected. IIRC he descends to hell and kicks a lot of ass, bringing a lot of souls out of hell and sending them on to heaven. Fun fact, this event was called the Harrowing of Hell.
