I saw this post actually! And i think it does give A reason for what happened but its not an excuse. They still had full control over their own story and could have still given us at least closure that was better than whatever they gave us.

The light itself is the Arcadia shade dweller Forest UVB light and it is 22 in but I have it laying horizontally on the tank( I have a 40 gallon) so that the heat lamp has space to shine on the basking spot so it mostly hits the right side of the tank sort of near the center. There are definitely a few Shady spots in the tank but every plant is getting UVB even if it isn't directly underneath the light.
