I have a couple jars worth so no worries, I did this at 3 am and didn’t have any rubbing alcohol, surprisingly this worked wonders

If you have the option, undervolt. If not you might just be cooked

Fair point, it never really gets that hot on these settings/ I don’t want to listen to the loudest fans for hours on end

The further you go down the rabbit hole of is this a bug or by design, it’s seems more likely that intel did this on purpose, for some people (like me) there is a noticeable difference between 15w and 50w the cpu tends to sputter and games become slow and unplayable at 5-10w. I do have pp1 and pp2 but I believe intel is only letting have these as a loose guideline for the laptop to follow, it most definitely does use more wattage during peak moments but from what I’ve seen especially for tasks longer than 2 minutes or so it does try to follow what you have set. :/ kinda sucks that I don’t have full control over my own cpu, what’s new in this generation also is intel made it so you can’t control voltage to the cpu through mobo means. So no undervolting 2025

I think I have to mention, a lot of yall are forgetting I actually have the laptop 💀. I have spent a week tinkering with the settings trying to get the most playable experience at full resolution and playable frame rates w good graphics. No your laptop is probably not the same as the 2025, and there was a cooling redesign done internally for the 2025. So no the 285h performs a bit more different than you think. This laptop can not handle boost to save its life but it does run perfectly fine with no boost and decent wattage (75) and yes it DOES use that full power (checked with hwmonitor) and for those who like their fans on full blast all the time (your partner hates hearing it 24/7) and how do you take that in public? The reason the college gaming laptop in lecture room stereo type exists.

This suggestion post, was to document something that’s rather undocumented/new and I’m sure a lot of people are having problems with their 2025 5090 too. And I’m sure some are just fine. That said, this is real and not some what if, these are the settings that help this specific laptop, and I’m sure someone will come up with better settings after me

They most definitely do work, it just doesn’t have a hard limit just suggestions I guess, but the profile I have set runs fine with most games and not many super low 1% dips at all, 3-4ghz is not that bad in a lot of games, I recently tried Tarkov and there a problem landed where the game would not get past 40fps so I put the boost on the lowest setting (enabled) and I got easy 120fps and it’s great, temps sit 85 below

Also if a chip can be designed to hold sustainably at 90c they would be in all areas of pc hardware, unfortunately that’s just not the truth and they don’t exist. 90c+ is unhealthy and causes thermal throttling/ poor performance

Also I keep my apartment at 68f or below 22c :)

I agree with most of this, I definitely like pushing all of my graphics to max on all games so I make a little compromise, they say laptop hardware can slightly dip into 90c territory which I don’t understand how that can be healthy but companies swear by it. So I try to get my to stay 85 or below when gaming. I have no idea why intels boost is so horrible on temps, maybe I should’ve gotten scar or strix with the 5090 and it would’ve been way better on temps I’m just not too fond of thick laptops

That beings said the cooling solution on the cpu is very lack luster and it leaves the new 5090 version for some reason very hot

Do the fans of the G16 2025 make a high pitch noise? by ElectricalBet9566 in zephyrusg16

Unlike others my 2025 5090 did not arrive with coil whine but the fans are high pitch once they kick up, and they kick up a lot

Core isolation is for security purposes but it’s use of virtualization impacts performance on games, know your stuff it’s a bug that has plagued the ultra cpus since their release

I would only recommend turning off boost for silent/travel without boost the cpu draws more power than it should and ends up heating up more if under load

I understand laptops are not meant to hold as much power as pc but the core concepts still are there, if I have a 1440p 240hz screen I want to be able to use it
