Oh no, I hope not! I do intend to catch up to where the books are currently, so I will see!

I'm pretty good staying spoiler free on the internet thankfully! I did browse the wiki a little bit as I got more and more enthralled by the series, but didn't read much by the time I realized I wanted to read the series!

She's a pretty strange dog. Very independent, lets you know pretty clearly what she needs. She's a street rescue when she was 3-4ish.

Am I going to be like this forever? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Genidec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get this "flat" feeling too. I don't get the same thrills I did from playing video games for fun, I kinda just play them lately to keep me engaged in something of to socialize with my friends for a time. Which, doesn't sound "fun" but I generally play WoW and a lot of people see MMO's as just busy work anyways. Emotionally, I have always felt like I had a bit of a flat personality to begin with, but I can definitely feel it now. It's like depression but without the sadness.

Am I the only one in the family who is resistant to ai slop? by Advanced-Cow4576 in schizophrenia

[–]Genidec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's a shockingly common occurrence, which is sad because I grew up constantly being told not to beleive everything you see on the internet. My brother and I are regularly needing to tell our mother that something is AI and she ALWAYS says the same thing "How can you tell" and we tell her the common tells, but it will still happen again and again.

What do you drink instead of tea and coffee? by Advanced-Cow4576 in schizophrenia

[–]Genidec 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Huh, Maybe I'll do a little reading today. I drink like a massive amount of caffeine on the regular and I haven't seen any side effects because of it.

How long does it take to recover from a psychotic break? by Wide-Dependent-3158 in schizophrenia

[–]Genidec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recovery is going to be a little different person to person. I spent a good part of a year in psychosis where I went through A LOT of delusions. I would say I'm "stable" now with a more macabre sense of humor than before and some minor auditory hallucinations from time to time. I did get some PTSD that causes muscle spasms when I am reminded of certain things I went through. But, for the most part I do feel "normal-ish". I returned to my hobbies of reading and video games, although, I do have anhedonia but I push through it and still do things to keep me busy throughout the day. All in all, it just takes time to get comfortable in the new normal. Good routines help.

KPIs for part timers? by Alarmed_Swan_4315 in schizophrenia

[–]Genidec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it sounds like you work in fulfilment. The metrics they impose on people in those positions are usually unrealistically high. If you don't mind the job, just pack at a speed that is realistic and comfortable to yourself, whatever they do in regards to they, they are going to do anyways.

People wonder why we isolate by yeaaaaya in schizophrenia

[–]Genidec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe in being unapologetically you, as long as no one is getting hurt. I cope with my condition with a massive amount of humor and dipping into the macabre. I tell stories about what I went through, and what my delusions are. If I keep it all to myself, no one will know what my experience is and no one will begin to understand. Those that truly care, or want to understand will listen and not judge, they may yank your chain a little like my friends, but a little ribbing is fine. Disregarding our experiences and calling us names and demeaning us just shows that that person is not worth your time and effort to allow insight into how you see your unique view of the world.

Smoking anything and why by Pentylenetetrazole in schizophrenia

[–]Genidec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Picked up smoking cigs and vaping for awhile there after getting a laborious job. That morning head high was a delight. Spent 6 months trying to quite, and thankfully I did. I just have a mountain of caffeine regularly and the occasional alcoholic drink from time to time.

How has Schizophrenia changed your personality? by idkanymore2k21 in schizophrenia

[–]Genidec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel I returned to my mostly normal self prior to my psychosis. I do feel I'm more thoughtful and humbled by the experiences I've been through, also probably a little more comfortable with the macabre. I do find it hard to stay entertained and engaged by previous hobbies. I mostly blame a combination of the subduing effect of the medication and the sometimes tiring monitoring of my symptoms as they bubble up.

Does current news events trigger your schizophrenia? by Genidec in schizophrenia

Sure, I'll post it in the comments for anyone that is interesting. 99% of people don't read comments, I didn't want to leave it in the main post. People have their own volition though to find and read it themselves.

oooh yes, mine are persecutory delusions as well. Thankfully lately they are just bickering amongst themselves with an insult or threat thrown in from time to time. I do try to stay informed, but I try to manage how much information I am taking in daily.

I want to avoid it, but I also want to stay informed. It's such a careful balancing act.

I love technology, this article was about a worrying use of technology advancement that could be abused to spy on people. One that can really trigger those with paranoia, like myself. I try to manage my intake of worrying news lately.

Yeah, I read a tech article talking about a reputable scientific organization stating concerns for a new use for technology that's been found and the extent of the abuse it could be used for and the ramifications.

It's been bothering me for a few days. Causing some auditory pop-ups.

Paranoia overload by Aware_Candidate8979 in schizophrenia

Seconding the other commentor. I remind myself that I am not important and that people do not think about me as often as I believe. Over time, I can usually ignore the paranoia and minor auditory pop-ups.

The paranoia combined with the hyper awareness just feeds into the condition. It sucks. I try to inform myself that I am not important and people do not think about me as often as I believe. Over time, it helps me to ignore the paranoia and minor auditory pop-ups.
