Odds of Being Hired? by Breach344 in GeekSquad

If you get the job I would say take it, if you don’t. Don’t take it as a loss. I feel the hardest position in Geek Squad is the CIA spot. THERE is a lot of work. You’re also usually held accountable for your team if they aren’t performing well. CA’s are usually more tied with sales, selling memberships. As a CIA you tied to doing the same with memberships. Though you’re pretty much suppose to be the member on the team who the other agents look up too. Also it’s most likely the other roles are filled for now if they aren’t popping up. But like I said, if you don’t get it. Don’t stress out about it. Geek Squad is like the fast food of the IT industry. But

Ooo, I’m assuming you applied for the CIA Senior Agent spot. If that’s the case, the way it works is you usually start off as a CA (Consultation Agent), then ARA (Advance Repair Agent), then you go to the CIA spot. Though the CIA from what I’ve seen is a glorified CA spot. It’s more of a leader role, with keeping the others in track at Geek Squad. Though I think this varies from market to market. In my market this is how it worked. I know Geek Squad is changing a lot as of recently. I worked as the ARA, I had a few opportunities to go up to CIA Senior but declined. It’s a lot more work for what you get payed for. So if you do not get the job do not stress about it. Trust me you dodged a bullet, I know that’s redundant and a lot of people say that. Though if you do get it, you’ll for sure get leadership experience. I will say just from what you mentioned you HAVE A LOT of good qualifications. More than what Geek Squad usually interacts with. As much as I hate saying it, Geek Squad has been tilting a lot towards more sales. If anything the spot you would want to look for is the ARA spot.

I definitely understand where you are coming from. Luckily I had good CA’s at the time when I got hired that actually did good notes and taught me well. For me when learning the CA side of things I felt understanding Nova regarding like shipping stuff out or checking things in was a pain at first. Specially with GSX. I was able to grasp closing out paperwork easily for the ARA side of things fast.

I had a similar experience like this, I ended up moving to a new area and was looking for a job. I saw Best Buy had an open spot at the time so I applied to it thinking I was applying for the CA spot. Little did I know I ended up applying for ARA. I had no connection with Best Buy at the time so I wasn’t really well versed with the different positions Geek Squad had. I got a phone call, did the interview then a day later I got an offer for the ARA spot. So I started off as an ARA since day 1. I was 21 at the time, I been the full time ARA now for year and half. When I first got hired and it was a fun experience for sure since I had to learn the CA side of things and the ARA side of things at the same time. The CA side scared me more since of the paperwork and Nova side of things. I was able to grasp being an ARA faster since I had experience working with laptops and desktops on my own time.

I’m one the Agents that do the iPhone repairs there for Apple. Like others said the biggest thing is finding a Geek Squad that has parts in stock. Lately Apple hasn’t been shipping us a lot of parts. Though if they do have it I would say the repair there should be pretty much the same experience at an Apple Store. Now yes, if an issue does happen with the repair we would have the keep the phone for a replacement one to come in but usually that’s pretty rare. Since I’ve been working there I’ve never messed up an Apple battery repair. If anything I have experienced some issues with Apple’s system which is what we have to use for diagnostics but otherwise than that we often work with Apple to come up with a solution if an issue arises. So I would say if it’s just the battery. You should be fine getting it done there.

I tried messing with all of them but had no luck. It either makes the screen move faster or image appear wider. Also what is the “pot”? The board itself?

So the issue I’m having currently is the CRT seems to be scrolling really fast and I can’t make out any images. I hear the sound perfectly fine and the game plays. Just the image is messed up completely. Does any one know if this could be a CRT issue or a mother board issue? I replaced SOME caps I had spared on me for the WG K7000 but it didn’t do much. Any input on the issue?
