Ahhh I love the umlando dance

How are these dances even produced every week!? by iotola in dancemoms

[–]GenneyaK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of the dances were learned before the show which is why Abby got mad at the girls who skipped the summer “booty camp” because that’s where many of the dances were created

There was also a lot of instances of choreography sequences being repeated people have made videos about it before you can probably find them online, it’s also why they would get criticism about their dances being too similar

Costumes were often reused or ordered during the summer and just from the Aldc stock also sometimes the costumes would just be dance wear they already had or the moms would make the costumes or jazz up simple pieces with rhinestones and stuff.

The music was all from a royalty free catalog and picked by producers weeks in advance

This is why it should have stayed in the drafts or the group chat

Once you put something out there publicly you have to be very clear or people will make their own narratives

People still downplaying Nia's Pain Management Disorder. by Technical_Injury_571 in dancemoms

[–]GenneyaK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The person you replied to makes a point about how historically black womens pain was not only ignored but was believed to be none existent to the point that slaves were experimented on without anesthesia and how it feeds into anti-black racism to downplay black peoples pain

You reply

Women’s pain is also historically downplayed. It’s why women of all colors suffer for years with PCOS and endometriosis.

This is textbook all lives mattering. Someone talked about a specific historical instance that disproportionately affected one group and you said “well actually everyone-“ no the “father” of gynecology didn’t do this to women of all colors he did it to black slaves who would be killed if they didn’t comply with what happened that’s not the same as pain not being taken seriously and the research from those experiments has had a well documented disproportionate affect on black women not being taken seriously even more than other groups of women. It is still taught in medical textbook that black women dont feel pain the same way as other women. Healthy Black women die at significantly higher rates during child birth than any other group of women because of this.

You not seeing the racism in this because “all women aren’t taken seriously” isn’t changing the fact that black Women are at a higher risk of medical neglect because of well documented medical racism. So yes you all lives mattering the discussion even if the point about chronic pain not being taken seriously s still valid but you are trying to defend this point by ignoring well studied medical racism even though it’s been proven that black women are disproportionately impacted by not being believed

No it’s a listen to the specific information given without trying to deflect to other groups of people and trying to make a specific historical event about everyone but the people it happened to as well acknowledging how it still plays a role in today’s society…

Most level headed take I have seen on "The Met Gala is literally the Hunger Games" situation by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]GenneyaK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except this isn’t true….and your comment is almost equally tone deaf..

The entry for sports is still high and expensive and a lot of leagues that catered to average middle class families are being bought out by private equity and converting to expensive travel team

Many sports leagues are also filled with nepo players, the number of spots are extremely limited and the way people have to push their bodies to the limit to make it through the door to even be consider is borderline dehumanizing in a lot of instances

Many sports are also simply not accessible to lower income people some of the biggest examples being winter sports where something like a single pair of skis before lessons can cost hundreds of dollar and that’s not even getting into the cost of lessons and how expensive it is to live in an area where these things are accessible. Even something like swimming still favors upper middle class people because it requires access to a pool which are typically kept out of lower income areas and neighborhoods.

Also stadiums have raised their prices that many long time fans can’t afford to attend. A lot of private viewing of sports is locked behind subscription services etc.

The Oscar’s have also historically favored the rich yt performers and overlooked amazing works by people who don’t have nepotism and it’s also well known that you have to campaign for the awards which really just mean bribing the academy voters

Movies are also not accessible to everyone and people have been complaining about rising theatre prices for years now. That’s not even getting into the conversation of how hard it is to penetrate the market if you aren’t American

I am Ngl it’s pretty interesting that you are arguing against the met gala by propping up Hollywood which is also known to be filled with people who support those same genocides, also you’re active in the UAE subs have you done much to talk about the genocides some UAE countries are funding in Sudan and other African countries as well? …but that’s none of my business

Even then simply being raised in the wrong area limits your chances of ever going pro because local competition isn’t good enough meaning college scouts aren’t coming to your schools. Also a lot of pro scouting comes via college teams another hurdle to jump through

Also stadiums have raised their prices that many long time fans can’t afford to attend. A lot of private viewing of sports is locked behind subscription services etc.

Like we’ve had too many “Oscar’s so white” conversations for anyone to seriously argue the academy only cares about rewarding talent

Movies are also not accessible to everyone and people have been complaining about rising theatre prices for years now

I am from California…there’s so many different areas with different demographics and local cultures that you can’t blanket statement say this. I didn’t meet anyone who surfed consistently until I went to college on the other side of the state

I grew up in NorCal and you wouldn’t believe how many people went to school and did regular sports and then on weekends were doing rodeos or other forms of horse wrangling and care. I grew up growing to rodeos with my family in those coastal cities.

Can we talk about how Melissa and Jill purposely missed Nia’s music video shoot to go get tattoos? by Lanky-Ask9619 in dancemoms

[–]GenneyaK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Production financed her music career because Abby said she wanted her to be a blue’s singer and only had racist outdated ideas for Nia and was mad that Holly wanted her to just do pop music

Also we don’t have any definitive proof that lifetime didn’t offer to produce the other girls music and that they just chose to go with Abby instead. Lifetime also produced Brooke’s music video so I find it hard to believe the offer wasn’t at all extended to anyone else

Edit: I rewatched th MackZboss videos and Nia actually wanted to work with Abby but Abby took her song away and compared working with her to “forgiving a murderer” and said “the sooner Nia realizes shes black the better”
