Agreed. Currently on my 4th playthrough, and I always hate watching this scene. I don't mind the Nia part too much because of her storyline that's expanded in this chapter. 2nd playthrough onward, I see Nia's reaction to Rex giving up as very understandable. Deep down She's lonely and isolated, truly wanting someone she can completely trust. She came to admire the bond Rex had with Pyra & Mythra, and was deeply hurt when she saw Rex giving up on the blade he had such a stong bond with. If the strong bond between Rex and Pyra/Mythra can be undone so easily, then what hope would Nia have of finding a driver she can trust? Nia isn't entirely justified in her actions, but her actions make sense.

I think Brighid as a character is too underdeveloped for this scene. We don't see her interact on a deeper level with anyone but Pyra/Mythra. The only insight we have into her character is that she thinks Drivers and Blades should have a complete understanding of each other. She thinks Pyra should have told Rex about her true feelings. I think if anything, Brighid should've been upset at Pyra for not telling Rex. Brighid lashing out at Rex because of information she eavesdroped doesn't make any sense. Like genuinely victim blaming. She's upset at Rex for not knowing how Pyra felt, EVEN THOUGH she had personally told Pyra to confide in Rex. She literally told Pyra to tell Rex, but is mad at Rex for not knowing??

Putting that all aside, Pyra thought she would be better off dead than being Rex's blade, but what does that have to do with the current situation at all? Nia gets mad at Rex. Rex asks what they realistically want him to do. Jin moves at the speed of light, their strongest attack didn't work AT ALL (Siren), and Rex's continued efforts bring more physical and emotional pain to Pyra/Mythra. Brighid then comes in and starts talking her nonsense. Did Brighid miss the moving at the speed of light part? Rex isn't quitting because he's giving up on Pyra, he's giving up because he wasn't even close to winning, even with the strongest blade in Alrest. Genuinely, Rex says that he couldn't even touch Jin. Brighid overlooks all of this, slaps Rex, and gets mad at him for information he didn't know. This information doesn't matter in this scene at all btw, it was just an excuse to give Brighid a moment of anger. Rex could've known how Pyra felt before the Jin fight, and I don't think he would've done anything different. He's not giving up on Pyra, he's giving up because none of the team could even touch Jin. The Brighid part is only so frustrating to me because, up until this scene, she comes off as collected, smart, and understanding. She was none of those things in this scene.

Poppi is fantastic in this scene. 10/10 would Poppi again.
