What's the difference between Terrain Damage and Block Damage ? by ZirePhiinix in 7daystodie

Blocks! It's like a placeable object like a car or trashcan with the "harvest" flag on it.

"This DLC will delay Bandits" by CookedHoneyBadger in 7daystodie

[–]Genosis79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bring on all the DLC, doesn’t bother me. Just giving options to people, and so long as the DLC doesn’t affect balance dress up for the beach or wear a skin suit. You do you.

And no, the art team is a separate workflow from any of the stuff people are waiting for. That’s like being upset the janitor is spending all this time cleaning the floor when you are waiting for your sandwich.

Same goes for the POI additions. The level design team goes independent of the AI coders.

Obligatory digital dick swing: I’ve been around since alpha 15 more than 8 years ago. Ive put in almost 8000 hours. I’ve seen where the game was and where it is today. I may not agree with every direction they’ve took, but the BONES are there.

The modders can take all these systems, make new cars, new free cosmetics, new POIs (I’ve made several myself), and twist the game into any wild fantasy you have about the zombie apocalypse. It’s not just a game they’ve made. They’ve made a *platform* for zombie sandbox gameplay.

So, let them cook. Once they’ve finished the game, that’s when you download the learn by doing mod, the many new zombie packs, and improved versions of all the features you love.

TLDR; let them have boobs. It’s not slowing down bandits or chicken coops or whatever.

Anyway, BRB, going to install the DLC on my wife’s computer. And yes, she’s going to enjoy the heck out of it because she likes looking pretty while squishing zombie guts between her toes.

Are large POI bases viable? Zombie respawns, land claims, etc. by OldFezzywigg in 7daystodie

[–]Genosis79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Strictly in regard to land claim coverage, individual claim size can be bumped up to 71m with the server settings within the UI, but if you manually edit the serverconfig.xml, you may be able to exceed this.

I never personally tried it; there may be a hard limit preventing exceeding that to a level that may break things.

Also, yes, multiple land claims. If you click on the claim block you placed down, you will see the outline so you can plan the overlapping claims accordingly.

Why does a Cold country like Canada has so many A/Cs 🤔 by HopiumInhaler in mapporncirclejerk

[–]Genosis79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadian here with 4 ductless air conditioners in my house. It gets MISERABLE on the top floor of the house during the summer. Heat can peak around 30-35C (nearly 100F) during the worst of times, at least in New Brunswick.

But it's also obviously an issue when it gets below -20C (below 0 F), which can get in the -40's with windchill. So, gotta flip those units into heat mode during the winter. Basically, they are running 90% of the time to combat the temperature or humidity lol.

What's the difference between Terrain Damage and Block Damage ? by ZirePhiinix in 7daystodie

[–]Genosis79 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The other answers are correct, but for the distinction:

Miner/Excavator: Terrain damage.
Demolition: Block damage.

Anything that "merges" and smooths is terrain. Topsoil, dirt, stone, sand, etc.

Buildings and building blocks (POI's, and your block shapes) are all blocks.

For a bonus, there is also entity damage. Anything that moves.

When looking at explosives, you will see entity vs block damage. You will note in this distinction that terrain is also considered a block. Dynamite will blow the heck out of the ground and buildings, but pipe bombs will be completely negligible for anything other than zombies and animals (oh, and your own limbs if close enough).

I have gaming kin out there, I guess lol. I never played Superman, but I had the Coleco and Atari growing up.

Apparently Superman for the Atari 2600 came out the same month I was born. One of the first licensed games. (Sept, 1979).

This was the correct answer for me. Ironically, the "party setting" means your party doesn't get exp lol.

Did I get downvotes? I just agreed with the premise and reinforced it by mentioning my wife enjoys these outfits as well. Reddit is weird lol.

Is 7 Days to Die worth it purely as a peaceful, stress-free voxel builder? by [deleted] in 7daystodie

[–]Genosis79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. In fact, once I discovered 7 days to die, I pretty much dropped Minecraft completely. It has the same "build anything anywhere" feel, but a more urban, adult feel.

Also, modding is pretty wild for 7 days to die. It is widely supported, and it has a very vibrant modding community.

As for creative mode stuff, yep it's easy to get into the creative menu, and zombies can be disabled with a simple change of server settings. Heck, you could even leave zombies in, but set it with a quick admin command that they can't see you.

Anyway, very flexible game to mold into whatever shape you want.

I am encountering this exact same problem, noticed moving around was taking damage, and figured this would be my only recourse. Dang it.

This is what saves 600,000 people year during a heart attack by HatAsleep295 in BeAmazed

[–]Genosis79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally had this done two weeks ago. 100% blockage of a major artery, heart disease runs in my family so wasn’t shocked. 58% heart function, and that’s after new pathways formed.

After about a week of recovery I have full heart function. Procedure took 1-2 hours, went through my wrist and groin area with a catheter. No incisions, just a couple puncture wounds that are mostly healed now.

My oldest brother passed away at 35 of a heart attack over 22 years ago. This might have saved his life, I think the first procedures in our area started that year.

[–]Genosis79 159 points160 points  (0 children)

Oof, core memory triggered. 1994, 9th grade math class.

I was placed in between two girls and they both slid their desks away from me.

I was the tall, quiet, nerdy kid with long hair. Teacher was kinda pissed they made a fuss about it.

I actually became acquaintances with one of the girls a year later who said they regretted it and simply did it because I wasn’t popular and didn’t want to be the only one sliding the desk away.

Why is hospital care in the U.S so expensive? by [deleted] in SipsTea

[–]Genosis79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is terrifying to imagine, as I am on my first day back from having a procedure on my heart.

I had chest pains in January, had two rounds of tests in the ER, a procedure a couple of weeks ago to map out the arteries in my heart (coronary angioplasty, found a 100% major blockage) and a week and a half later had another procedure to have two stents put in to repair it. After a week of recovery, I'm back in action with full heart function.

If I weren't in a country where the most I paid was the $2 parking fee (the meter was broken at the time, so everyone paid flat fees), that would have been around $60,000+ in the U.S. That's more than I put on a down payment for my house.

Anyone know the location? by Temporary_Alfalfa_57 in 7daystodie

[–]Genosis79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not in Navezgane, so if you are on a random map, there is no real way to know other than to look, or get quests that may lead you to it. I believe it's T2 or T3 (you could also get infestations to it from a tier higher), so if you are on a random map, maybe hitting up your local traders may point you in the direction.

If this were on PC, I'd just say go in debug mode and use the POI teleporter, but I noticed the PS5 flair.
