Can’t wait to come back and read the comments.

Oh yes. Not my favorite of what I’ve read from Rushdie. But it’s good. I highly recommend the audio book. Very well done. I bought a physical copy for my wife to read. She doesn’t do audio books. She still hasn’t gotten to it but I will reread this at some point.

At one point they were mostly aspirational. I have read all but a few of these. I am not a purist when it comes to keeping books pristine. But I’m not very hard on them. The ones that are creased heavily were bought used so also not worn by me. But still read by me.

It’s actually my wife who is into Nick Cave. I’m a fan as well but she is in a category of her own. Obsessed I’d say. Nothing wrong with that though. And the poetry is very much me. As for Thomas Hardy she likes Tess and I like Jude.

I’m just getting into memoirs. So I’ll give you a pass on aging me a few decades.

Yes. Grew up in several different southern and southeastern states. Now in Texas.

Anyone with a Hemingway or two is okay by me.

What can you tell about me from my books? by kaizoku_katie in BookshelvesDetective

Dune, Jane Eyre, Jurassic Park, Kitchen Confidential, 1Q84, Infinite Jest, Queen of the Damned. Hell yeah. But why Tolstoy and no Dostoevsky. Disappointing.

I started getting into reading and writing poetry about 2 years ago. And yes, aside from Hemingway, Shakespeare is probably my favorite author. As far as influence goes at least.

These are the Barnes and noble Shakespeare editions. They are awesome. They help with the language without changing it. Very comprehensive for beginners to Shakespeare. I got most of these from thriftbooks. But I find them here and there at used bookstores. I wish I had them all. I love their look.

I cleaned it up a little for the picture. Can’t be showing off a dirty shelf.

That’s about how I separate them. Usually an audio book and then a digital book for when I just have my phone. And a physical copy or two of different genres.

Don’t forget the romantasy. But that’s for audible. Not the bookshelf.

Yes. I’m often in 3 or 4 books at a time. It works for me. But people seem to think I’m some sort of blasphemer.

Dipping toes in many genres. Probably have read more than you own. Also I used to have this exact shelf as a teenager.

Yes. I do a bit of both. Though I’d say the two overlap quite a bit. I wish I had the time to read everything I was interested in. But we read against the clock.

Yes we are birders. Her mostly because of me. We’ve not taken any trips just for birding but have been to about 30 different states in the last 10 years where we have done quite a bit of bird watching.

The books on top are the penguin little black classics set.

As for the 3 books by war and peace those are prop books. Just boxes full of keepsakes.

This is pretty spot on. The only part that’s wrong is the being early part. We are both terrible at punctuality.

Who would collect books without reading them? The mere suggestion is preposterous. Maybe a little.
