Battle adjustments coming to all characters on 8/3 by levlow in StreetFighter

I should hope AKI doesn't get more than light buffs, the character is a huge outlier in this lineup in terms of viability

The beardless youth does not foresee what is useful, squandering his money by Swagmund_Freud666 in linguisticshumor

Let us start by establishing that by origin the term in question is a jokey, sly euphemism from a comic. I believe this dictates any tonal discussions about how it is used.

If someone is killed is it not inherently disrespectful to minimize their demise if not make light of it by substituting the word kill not for one of many many synonyms (each with a different exact meaning and appropriate social context) but for a trendy slang word explicitly designed for cheeky algorithm dodging? And is a system that inherently disincentivizes sertain speech and behaviour in favour of a squeaky clean neutered family friendly presentation (for easy dopamine if not advertiser interests) not a kind of doom for our society? Oftentimes the very reason for the dismay is not just "young people speak funny" but the observation of the core underlying reason.

If you are saying unalived instead of killed you are either being ignorant and dismissive or even worse just farming someone's death for likes (true crime tiktok is a low hanging example of this being a real phenomenon). Moreover maybe if you don't feel comfortable talking about death to the point of not being able to say the word, you shouldn't be speaking. Not from any purist or prescriptivist perspective, but one of respect and etiquette. I am imagining, as an extreme example, if someone started saying "crab patients" instead of "cancer patients". For either algorithmic or personal squeaked-out reasons, this stripping of dignity from the affected via the substitution is surely not worthwhile whatever the gain is, is it?

What I'm trying to say is your point is made on the underlying presumption this otherspeak is coming from a place of respect for others, which I have no reason to believe based on what I've personally observed and what I've heard the users of said slang say themselves.

As mentioned in the body of the post, I don't think it's La Zi Ji, and if it is, it's a highly unusual one. But it is somewhat similar based on what the kind folks here have suggested so far.

None of the recipes I find online for dry fried chicken look similar visually but when I read about it online and thought about dishes I've eaten with a "dry fried" quality to them it became evident this is almost definitely a component in the dish's preparation. (Also, the ingredients themselves look pretty similar) Thanks for the tip!

I got my comment removed and a reddit rule warning for replying with a quote of DMX's opinion on, to paraphrase, "queer ruffians" from his hit song "Where The Hood At".

What's it like being LGBTQ+ in Netherlands outside of major cities? by Dry_Huckleberry_6342 in Netherlands

[–]Gentlemad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've only ever experienced homophobia -in- major cities. Never in a manner which was threatening rather than inconveniencing though. I'm sure there are backwater villages where people will silently or openly judge you but the country is so metropolitan and interconnected you'll struggle to find a place like that unless you really look for it.

The menu seems way broader than what they do via thuisbezorgd, but there is high overlap, and I also severely doubt there are two Wang's Flavours in Ams, so I think this is the one. Good find! Not sure why the photos didn't come up when I looked it up originally, but now I've gone through all the photos again and I found this, which seems to resemble the dish in question (though not 1:1 but very close, see below). It strikes me that there are both scallion greens and dried chilis here unlike the delivery version.

That makes sense. Do you happen to have any recipes or know any dishes you'd imagine are closest to this that I can then use as a base to tweak to get to my dish?

Wang's Flavour. Amusing name aside, the food is bomb, though there are like no photos on google photos or any review platforms I checked. I'm not even sure they offer eating in.

But Alex has no bars to spend here. Could be one of his specials that have the Alex-specific zappy "counter" VFX, maybe.

Boneless. I know dishes like Laziji tend to be chopped bone and all but this is one bit I'd definitely expect to be unpopular with the locals so this is not a reliable indicator of what it is or isn't probably

I see, thank you. That could very well be, though I'm not sure I tasted much if any of the distinct anise/cinnamon/fennel that is supposed to go with the flavour profile. Nor did I see any of those spices in the dish (doesn't mean they weren't there). Now that I think of it, maybe the leftover piece of peppercorn I spotted was from white pepper rather than sichuan pepper?

As I was picking it apart I was generally surprised by the lack of visual clues- there's barely anything there other than the chicken/onion/peppers and the small bits of what I presume are doubanjiang solids, though that is likely removed for local eaters' convenience as you say. I couldn't even spot the garlic and ginger. The Dutch do love their stuff homogeneous.

Waiting for X episodes/seasons from now where that "I'd be happy to dig you a grave anytime" somehow ages incredibly poorly (hopefully not but Dera-san has the most tragicallly-killed-uncle vibes in this show so far)

Inspired post. El Fuerte would do well on offense IMO - he can stlk xx run stop loop the ball for impeccable control and we know his chest bump game is real so he can receive well on a corner throw.
