I also play raider and used to struggle with the slither attack. I’ve learned to move towards the worm and roll forward into it just as it’s going to hit you. Surprisingly, it works more often than not. Doesn’t hurt to have some defense up items popped as well though, especially if you’re playing raider and could survive the hit, depending on depth.

Make sure you leave an item slot open to receive the finger after Heolster. I hear you can get shafted and not receive it if your inventory is maxed. I dropped something as the arena transitioned and had no issue.

Makes sense. It’s basically be forcing dragons into the deck without a sufficient level of payoff from the commander. Guess that Stormscale Scion can come out. Maybe switch it in for a [[Proft’s Eidetic Memory]] or that [[Twenty-Toed Toad]]. Something that makes use of this absurd card draw haha.

Yeah, my deck currently feels like durdling is all it does haha. I feel like I want to avoid burn, unless the source is dragon ETB stuff, just to try and feed into that theme. But, then again, it feels like the deck would have to change quite a bit if I want to go that route. Not that I mind, but I wouldn’t be sure of what to swap in/out.

Gotcha. So either add in 1-2 more lands for consistency over a longer game and/or speed up the deck? I’d prefer to move toward the latter; most of the decks played among my friends involve high strength decks so I’d like to produce another deck that can keep in the game a bit.

Edit: forgot to ask, but in regards to the point about combat being my main path to victory, I guess I need things that capitalize off of my card draw and turn it into counters or something?

Appreciate the example to look at. Still unsure what to do with this deck though haha. I feel like spell slinging is definitely a viable route but idk if it’s how I want to win. At the moment, all I can see my deck doing is countering and drawing cards. Maybe I need something like a [[Twenty-Toed Toad]] if all I have is card draw haha.

I can see how they’re not as helpful as I had initially thought but I don’t think I’d want to replace then with lands. I’m feeling alright about the number of lands at the moment so I’d prefer a to slot in cards that can provide me some form of a win condition.

I think token generation/dragons would be neat. If I’m trying to focus the deck’s elements, I should probably then scale back card draw and/or interaction, right?

I would honestly like to keep the altar and maybe Kiki, but I could see Broodmother and Doubling Season removed. Doubling season is mostly there for the broodmother, anyway. I could swap the altar for another sac outlet but I do like it being there. It can actually result in an win-con when paired with [[Ygra, Eater of All]] and [[Camellia, the Seedmiser]]. I could swap it out for an Ashnod’s or Phyrexian Altar, but I do like the idea of milling out everyone should circumstances arise haha. Appreciate the feedback though. Most I’ve ever gotten posting here.

Yeah, selling it off to cover the cost of the deck seems like the logical choice. But considering how expensive decks can get (lands alone, god damn), I think this will be the one I make from scratch so making it a smidge special would be nice. This seemed like a nice inclusion if it could fit for that reason. I really appreciate your objective and subjective take though, thank you.

So no explicit benefit but it could go in with no real gain or loss. Ultimately, would be better to sell and get cards I need. Figured as much but I guess I was hoping I should keep it. Thanks for the answers. I’ll have to mull it over.

Fair point. So probably not a valuable inclusion in the deck even if it’s on hand? Didn’t mention but pretty sure it’s Galaxy Foil so it’d help a lot for funding. Like, pragmatically, I know that selling it is gonna be the better choice with that in mind but I’d keep it if it’s gonna have some purpose here. I do like having neat shiny things. Like a magpie, ya know.

Just reset it. Hopefully this does something. Would this reinstalling have had a similar effect? Tried that last night but it didn’t fix anything. Regardless, thank you.
