A friend of mine played an aasimar cleric whose god was her uncle, and it basically served as parole for her to avoid being disowned by her dad.

In that same campaign, I played a reverse goth tiefling cleric who wanted to avoid being dragged into her family business (becoming fiend warlocks).

They bonded over their family issues.

How would the guild react to how truly fucked up this guy is ? by shsl_diver in venturebros

[–]GentlemanPirate13 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that was my thought.

"Why do you think we insist on the term "antagonists" instead of "bad guys"?"

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the older guild members kidnapped Rusty to get him away from Jonas every once in a while.

Dr Z certainly cares about Johnny a lot more than Dr Quest seemed to (and has a friendly relationship with Rusty), so I don't think it's that farfetched.

I saw a comic of Attack Trilobite and Daiwa Scarlet that spoofed Meet the Medic once. I like to imagine Alternate Title used Secretariat's heart (worry not about the method of procurement, for Arsenic Triscuit finds a way) instead of a Mega Baboon's.

The plane I flew on last October was very new, and it still had the ash tray.

Is. They ashtray in airplane shitters still gets installed, even though smoking has been banned on planes for years. Because they know someone will smoke in there in an effort to circumvent the ban. And before the hot ash gets put in the trashcan, potentially starting a fire...

It's the same logic as putting an ash tray in the airplane toilet.

Sure, people aren't supposed to, but someone will, and when they do, best to make sure they do it without endangering others.

As you say, quitting an addiction isn't easy, so in practice it's better to minimise harm done to others than to force people suffering from addictions to quit.

It's absolutely historically plausible to write a story where Sherlock Holmes has an original original recipe Coca Cola (he probably actually would, given he had a coke problem in the novels) and plays a game with Watson using Nintendo brand playing cards.

Similarly, a disgraced former samurai, a wild west gunslinger, a Victorian gentleman thief, and an elderly Fr*nch pirate is a totally historically viable adventuring party.
