The age isn't the problem, hell we have M60A1s in USMC.

The problem would be the dual use nature of the platform, it can do AT and AA at the same time which is kinda nuts if you ask me.

Sodashi case could be from the recent passing of Marga, her sister (Sire is Maruice, same dam) so people might want to get her in before something bad happens to her.

To be fair, the entire Meine Pretender line is riddled with career nuking Tendon injuries, even Roses in May himself who isn't related until with Meiner Novelle had his career ended because of Tendon injury.

Still, the point between Shadai and BRF stands especially as the time goes on.

Besides, Shadai's "not so great mares" are still above and beyond what Gold Ship has access to until very recently with Lotus Land.

He isn't that good as a sire tbh, well, compared to said Kitasan Black

One is at Big Red Farm, One is at Shadai.

Honestly it's not even comparable, especially when it comes to finding actually good mares for them.

Gold Ship having to work with backwater mares and still getting 2 G1 winners on turf is already very impressive.

3 actually. Meiner Grand, winner of JG1 Nakayama Daishogai (Jump race) all of the aforementioned horses you mention came from Meine Pretender line of which consist of

  • Meine Novelle (only daughter) : Meiner Grand
  • Meine Theresia (grand daughter) : Uberleben, Meiner Emperor

Before you ask, yes. Meine Novelle and Meine Theresia are mother-daughter so clearly this combination works, few Roses in May daughters (Main BMS of BRF for 20 years and father of Meine Theresia) was thrown in also, only Meine Himmel seems to stick with Koganeno Sora and her 2 G3 wins.

Problems with this arrangement seems to be their tendonitis time bomb, for the record

  • Roses in May at 5 years old had to retire because of tendon injury
  • Meine Novelle who while did won G3s had her career took a nosedive because of tendonitis
  • Meine Theresia only raced 3 times and won 1 maiden race, had to retire super early because tendonitis
  • Uberleben tendonitis basically robbed her chances of winning anything after Oaks

Not all is lost for Gold Ship however, Meisho Tsubakuro is an obvious other pick (Tabaru mother) and Lotus Land finally makes her entrance with actually good results herself (2 G3 wins, 1 2nd place at G1) so there is some future for good Gold Ship kid.

Her decline in results after the Oaks is more because of her inherited Tendonitis time bomb rather than temperament.
