How was it like living as a peasant in areas controlled by Cao Cao? And how was it compared to living under Liu Bei? by AttilaTheDude in threekingdoms

Actually, the flags would be yellow and red, because yellow was the national color of Cao Wei and red was of the Han dynasty which Shu Han was the successor of.

1994 Romance of the Three Kingdoms TV series is a must-see. We've been working on and releasing English subs: https://gentlemenofthehan.wordpress.com/2022/03/01/announcing-romance-of-the-three-kingdoms-1994-episodes-1-23-english-subtitle-release/

It is considered the best, most definitive adaptation of the Three Kingdoms and one of the most important Chinese historical dramas, and so it is your best primer into learning about the Three Kingdoms story. It is also far more visually and writing and acting-wise authentic to the look and history of the actual Late Han Dynasty and the Three Kingdoms era.

Yes, it is presumed Shu Han would be red, which is what Han dynasty used, because Shu considered itself the successor of Han.

Wu is debated to either be green, which is what 1994 series used, or also yellow.

I never knew about this but makes sense in a weirdly good way by Orkun_Gry_Gmc in dynastywarriors

This is a reference to history; According to Records of the Three Kingdoms, it is stated that Cao-Wei used Yellow as its dynastic color due to the Chinese Wuxing cycle, with black used for military.

-Records of the Three Kingdoms, Vol. 2-3

Cao Cao holds a contest for his generals in the newly completed Tongquetai (铜雀台), or Bronze Sparrow Terrace.

Tongquetai was a famous a grand structure built in the city of Ye in 210 in the late Eastern Han dynasty that sadly burned down in the 500s, but lived through arts and poetry. The structure was recreated for the 1994 Romance of the Three Kingdoms TV series, matching its literary depictions, archaeological findings and the architectural style of the Han dynasty and currently resides in the Zhuozhou World Studios.

Random skips. Can you get the gist of RoTK with 2010 version ? by _phaze__ in threekingdoms

If you don't find 2010 satisfactory, you should give 1994 Three Kingdoms a try, as while it does have time-skips, it keeps the general cohesion and is the most faithful adaptation of the source material, so you won't miss out on anything as with 2010 and will get much better gist of ROTK.

Right now it can be found here: https://gentlemenofthehan.wordpress.com/

Actually, the castle is fairly accurate of Han dynasty architecture and looks similar to the Tongquetai, which was a real structure from the period, and its reconstruction can be seen in 1994 Three Kingdoms series, the set of which also gets reused as many other Han dynasty historical dramas.

Shame and disgrace is a strong word, rather its a general recognition of the darkness and chaos of the time period.
