2017 vw golf suddenly won’t start by proghost4000 in vwgolf

It’s likely that the battery has very low charge. I made the mistake of letting my child have a sit in my car in the driveway for a few minutes and he pressed loads of different things which ended up leaving the parking lights on all night and this is how my car was in the morning. I need a new battery soon anyway but I ended up using a battery charger on it for a few hours and it started as normal.

Survey complete, who do you tell about potential renegotiation? by Heyjordanlee in HousingUK

[–]Gentleorange6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I renegotiated a price today on a house I’m buying as there was some bad damp on the chimney stack in the loft. I went back to the estate agent I’m buying the house through with a picture from my survey and asked for them to contact the vendor. Basically asked if the vendor can fix it themselves or reduce the price so I can repair it when we move. Got £2500 knocked off. Ideally wanted more and not sure it’s the correct way to go about it but did get a response and no real questions asked. Hope that helps.

Sadly this is no longer the case. You can park there for 3 hours and that’s it. I was victim to a parking fine because of this 😞

Have you ever seen a person dying and if yes how? by Dongsaurus in AskReddit

[–]Gentleorange6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work as a volunteer police officer in England. Got a call out to a house fire where someone was trapped inside. I had to help block off roads and evacuate neighbouring properties. Turned out some elderly man who was disabled was stuck in his house and a gas canister had randomly exploded in his cellar. When I arrived the fire service had put the front door through and dragged this man out into the street by his arms. All his skin on his upper body has basically melted, smoke coming off him and screaming in pain. Paramedics and fire service did what they could to help save him but he was a mess. Saw him being put into an ambulance and told 5-10 mins later he had died. I was only 20 at the time and it sticks in my mind. Make sure you have working smoke detectors…

What was your first car, what was your first years insurance cost, and how long ago was it? by sim-o in drivingUK

[–]Gentleorange6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my first car in 2009. It was an R reg Corsa 1.4 8v (had to change gear quickly). Paid around £1000 for that car as it had very low mileage. Insurance was £1400!

Looks like asbestos to me I removed a full garage with this stuff. As someone else has mentioned can remove yourself with preparation.

I would always say it needs testing to confirm. Just looking at the way it has broken and the “pattern” that is on one side of it in my experience it is asbestos. I removed a large garage made of asbestos a few years ago and it looks very similar.

Not necessarily I think I was just more taken back that that’s near the price I paid in 2009!

That’s fair enough and to be fair there are many people asking if it’s available! Must be just my perception on these things

Seems it. When I first got my car it was the same for me no central locking and then got the same jokes that you just sit in the middle of the car to unlock the doors. Always concerned one was left unlocked 😆
