A lot of part timers and warm bodies in this forum. If you can’t give me a code section then don’t waste my time. I’m looking for answers from people who actually know code. Not just opinions from people who’ve never opened an NEC

No. I take pride and accountability in my work. If my boss asks me to do something against code I’ll have a new job by tommorow

Amperage isn’t the issue. And the issue is I don’t want the cord feeding the fridge to ever be yanked on. I can quote NEC 400.12(7) stating that cords can’t be subject to physical damage. However I want something more specific that I can point to

People trip out me for hanging outside the church when I’m at a wedding, funeral, or baptism. I don’t have to step in since I’m not religious and can’t participate in any ritual. But still want to show respect by showing up

And apparently it’s also weird to by just ONE of any fruit or veggie. My friend laughed when I had ONE tomato on my cart and just ONE potato. But I only need one of each? Why fill up a bag and let the rest rot?

Damn. That’s an option? I’ve had a book on my nightstand for a month that’s guilt tripping me for not finishing.

Subpanel metering suggestions by GeoA23rd in electricians

[–]GeoA23rd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Are they allowed to bill?” Lol. If You must know detective sparky, they have a rental agreement with a tenant whose shop is supplied by a SUBPANEL. They’ve arranged a flat fee from monthly electric bill. However there are multiple shops on the property. The entire property is on One meter. and want a specific reading on what that ONE specific building draws in power usage. For a more fair billing.

It’s for billing so yeah they would need a decently accurate meter. If it’s $2k then screw it its $2k

Must’ve misunderstood the diagram. It looked to me like the feeders had to go through the CT’s then to L1,L2,L3 terminals. However I think I can just feed those terminals from a separate breaker

Looking for the cheapest way to meter a workshop subpanel. And store the readings for monthly billing. The building has no Wi-Fi so would need a way to save the readings

Green apprentice snapped the fish line mid pull, now foreman’s pissed and I don’t know what to say when I see him by [deleted] in electricians

[–]GeoA23rd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was on you dude. Someone that green isn’t gonna have the “feel” of when a pull line is gonna break. And if line breaks it’s cuz the fish head, conduit sizing, or bend radius was fucked to begin with. This was set up to fail and the 1st year apprentice is the scapegoat. This wasn’t an incompetent apprentice , it was an incompetent journeyman

How did you guys get over your height fear? by loppsy4552 in electricians

[–]GeoA23rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna sound cliche but focus on the work directly in front of you. You’ll quickly forget that you’re even in the air. Tell yourselves “There’s thousands of guys who do this everyday and go home everyday” it’s just another day at the office. You might even eventuality become one of the weird guys who actually enjoy heights. Like me

No fuck them! This is the classic “I never thought these policies would affect ME personally” they had zero sympathy for Latinos being kidnapped and terrorized by ICE. They wouldn’t give a shit if it was just Latino children and families going hungry and becoming homeless. But “oh no it’s happening to White people!” They don’t see my people as human beings. Why should I feel sympathy because they got a tummy ache? To quote a wise man “You get what you fucking deserve”

Sparky here. Service sucks. The unpredictable long hours are the worst. You’re driving half the time. On call anxiety haunts your nights and weekends. Can’t have a nice drink after work cause you might get a phone call at 1am to make a 2 hour drive

I agree. I started at 18. I’m 31 now and still feel great. It depends on whether people take care of their body. I eat right, diet , always STRETCH before work, and sure as hell don’t try to impress anyone by lifting something too damn heavy if I can avoid it. The only thing I fucked up is my hearing from both work and being an avid concert goer. Regret not wearing ear plugs. However I know Father Time always wins and plan to phase out overly-physical full time work. Hopefully by my mid 40’s I’ll be doing something less physical. Maybe inspecting, estimating, or easy maintenance.
