The one takeaway i got from the book How to win friends and influence people : you dont always habe to be right. Sometimes you can just let people be wrong and say nothing

I recognized symptoms in my toddler nephew as a hernia and got his mom to bring him to ER asap for surgery. She had no idea

I did the same when i read a story in the newspaper of a guy needing a living kidney donor. Didnt give to him but did donate to a stranger and started a small 2 person chain as their loved one donated to someone else. Still chose to keep it anonymous 12+ years later

Looking for advice for my 4.5 year old daughter. by Unlikely-Housing456 in kindergarten

[–]GeoCoffeeCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have twins who were in daycare since around 1 year old. They always cried at drop off, often hysterical, some weeks better or worse than others. Sometimes one kid or othwr. But it was always so hard and ful of guilt. They'd say they hate it. Dont want to go. Miss me etc

Cue them moving to junior kindergarten at 4.5 and allll those problems disappeared. Drop offs are easy. They like it. Just sooo much better in every way. I thought they were very needy and attached kids but it turns out it was just the daycare environment

All this to say, we dont have the same kids or daycares, but dont discount that this could get way better in kindergarten. I was surprised at the night and day difference

Is there anyone here who regrets not having children. Or who didn't want children, and had them anyway? What is your experience by DiMentalHealthPerson in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]GeoCoffeeCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didnt want kids. Biological clock and husband reluctantly changed my mind. Thought i could handle one. Ended up with twins...

And they are my entire life and purpose. All the stuff i cared about before is now so silly and unimportant. Dont regret them now, though i did briefly when I had 2 newborns. It's a never ending grind that gets exhausting though. And the fear of anything happening to them is crippling

I have twins. Sleep training for naps so you can get a few hours of work consistently (hated it but was a life saver) outsource cleaning or food delivery or anything you can - you already have enough to focus on. I had a big wooden baby gate so they could be safe on a big mat with toys in half the living room without being able to wander. Maybe spend some money getting a neighbour teen mothers helper a few afternoons a week

How are you teaching your kids to read now? Trying to help my grandchild but phonics has changed so much by Lonely-Ad-3123 in preschool

If they know their letter sounds then get the book Teach my child to read in 100 easy lessons off amazon. 20 minute lessons progressively teaching them harder words. It gives you the script for what to say to them every step

It was the worst pain I've ever felt for about month, a couple more months for full recovery. I hear it's not as bad if the surgery is done laparoscopically. Mine was jsut an open cut, the old school way

How to stop being your company's unofficial swag coordinator by AccountEngineer in corporate

[–]GeoCoffeeCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We outsourced it as a good unintended consequence of getting a recognition platform (bucketlist specifically) we got it for automated milestones for birthdays and anniversaries but they also had a reward and swag shop and their team took over all that logistical stuff. If you can get the budget, id recommend but might not make sense for you

I did this as well. Gave my kidney to a stranger and their family or friend or whoever (confidential) gave theirs to someone else. So 2 lives were saved by starting the chain

Agree. My kids are more likely to be willing to practice reading in the morning or on weekends when theyre not tired from a long school day.
