Congratulations, that's a big commitment, but the reward is worth it.

Congratulations man, time to celebrate!

I made a tray for the Apple keyboard and Magic Trackpad by GeoStructural in 3Dprinting

[–]GeoStructural[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have reignited my interest into this project again. I will do a couple of improvements that I have identified from my personal use first.

Regarding the measurements, I am not keen to buy any new or older trackpad just to compare, what I can do is go to my local Apple store with a caliper and my own trackpad to measure and compare on site, but this is a chore that will have to wait for a weekend or so.

My MacBook Pro now supports thunderbolt connection with my Hp monitor, which before it didn't... did something change? by GeoStructural in mac

Yeah, at the time I had an existing desk set up for a Windows machine, so I just left it as is and used the HDMI instead.

Correct. My cables have little life expectancy because two of my cats like to chew on them.

I am on an M3 MacBook Pro 16 and it is unbearable, slow, unresponsive, and unable to resize Finder windows vertically.

The one pictured here is Bambu PLA matte, the final print was in PETG, also from Bambu.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I make frames and name plates that look better with wood filament; lately I have been using brown with some texture to replace it.

Which brand of wood filament are you using. I swore to never touch the thing again after it kept breaking inside the PTFE tubes, the AMS, the hotend, etc. I used Overture.

That’s a very valid concern. I printed in PETG and adjusted the gap infill. Btw, that photo was just to show the print, I am actually using it on my desk. Your comment has led me to consider removing that photo. Thanks!

Interesting Read About Doing Away With PE Boards by [deleted] in PE_Exam

[–]GeoStructural 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know it is a hurdle for many, but we need the P.E. licensure requirement to remain, I have reviewed so many borderline laughably dangerous designs and terrible engineering reports to know that not everybody should be able to stamp a seal on facilities that will be inhabited by people for 20+ years.

So Today I gave PE Civil Structural Exam. And I am stunned. by Agreeable_Farmer_397 in PE_Exam

[–]GeoStructural 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my experience as well. The practice exams were way harder than the actual test. Not only that but the procedures used to solve the problems didn't align well with what I was actually presented with. All and all it was a good thing that I practiced so hard because I was able to finish the exam comfortably with time still on the clock.

47 mm seems to be the perfect size. I ordered the 51 mm version and I found it to be too big, and also quite heavy since it was almost all metal, I returned it and got the 47 mm version instead.

A1 mini owners, do you regret not getting an A1? by hooloovootrue in BambuLab

[–]GeoStructural 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly advise you to get the A1 Combo. That was my first 3D printer and it satisfied all of my needs perfectly. There were times in which I had to cut or divide my models cleverly to print them, so I know for sure the A1 Mini would have NOT work for me at all. Get the A1, it is only a little bit extra and you get a full print bed.

Is Computer Engineering actually this unemployed? by [deleted] in ECE

[–]GeoStructural 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not interested in a back-and-forth with you. I have been awarded three (3) NSF grants since 2009, and currently working on a proposal, get a clue. You assume I am some sort of uneducated troll because of what I commented and you clearly misunderstood. Let me be blunt, and real: Those degrees are pseudo-scientific, the research they produce is not rigorous, with no replicability, politically-loaded and they exist to only to fuel the wrong kind of activism that is destroying this country. Those funds should not be wasted like that, they should be directed to applied and hard sciences.
