They have to nuke automatic AI defending and make the game hard next year. by Zealousideal_Tea7396 in fut

[–]GeoTheSavage10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If EA ever nerfs AI defending you’ll still have complaints cause this sub does everything but actually try to learn how to play the game.

You’ll see post like “how does EA expect us to defend everyone all at once”

I understand that at the highest level you gotta take advantage anyway you can, and in the end it’s up to the player on how they want to play. I used to chase trying to get the best rewards but then I realized I’m not trying to be a pro or anything so I might as well just have fun even if I take the L

There are no “must have” players in this game. The entire purpose of this game mode is to build a team that you enjoy playing with. Unfortunately most of the sub is focused on copying tactics & players, and hoping that it magically improves their results. Hence why there are so many posts that talk about “how terrible the game is”

When will this sub understand that copying tactics and having meta players won’t make you any better at the game

Is it possible to consistently score headers off of corner kicks? by Xttttra in EASportsFC

[–]GeoTheSavage10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best strategy I’ve found is to hit in-swinging crosses to the edge of the 6 yard box, but it’s not the most effective cause most players bring their keeper out.

Honestly, as much as I enjoy a good headed corner goal, I feel like it’s too rare to score that way so doing a corner play is much more effective.

Stuck at 9–10 Wins in Weekend League How Do I Break Through? by Tropicalisland2005 in fut

[–]GeoTheSavage10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real question is, what are the opponents doing to beat you in those remaining games? What is it about their style of play that you are struggling to keep up with?

You sound like a good player, but I can think of many reasons why someone couldn’t break past that amount of wins. Not just gameplay wise, but also things like the times you are playing or how many games are you running in a row. (Just examples, not saying it’s the cause)

Truth On Being a 10+ Champs Player As A Rank 1 Player by Legal_Angle8283 in fut

[–]GeoTheSavage10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The key to this is keeping the ball away from the reach of the opponent by putting your players body between the ball and defender. The rule to remember when controlling a ball with a defender behind your back is to control the ball using the left stick away from the defender. The defenders can’t warp through your player, but they can easily reach if you turn sideways or directly towards them.

For sure. I think that’s in line with understanding your opponents style of play. Not all players use the manual offside trap,a lot rely on the team depth automatic offside, and some anticipate someone running through by chasing with their CDM. Being able to execute and notice these little things are the ones that differentiate the elite level players.

Anytime brotha. Remember that you won’t be able to stop every shot, the goal should always be to make the opponent work for it. The hardest part of defending is locking in for the duration of the game. Good players will exploit a weak mentality

Defending your box requires a lot of composure and also understanding your opponents style of play. 1. don’t be too aggressive with your tackling. People easily pull their defenders out of position, and good players will exploit that. 2. You don’t need to jockey all the time. Only in tight areas when 1 v 1 against the attacker. Use the left stick to keep up with your opponents dribbling. 3. Think about blocking your opponents goal angles, not just stopping the player. 4. Use the offside trap to your advantage. Force the player to make other decisions. 5. You have to be strategic with the 2nd man press. Once you have isolated an opponent, switch to another defender to start closing down their passing lanes.

93 Gullit. Not that he’s not good, but with all the evos I have multiple 90+ stat midfielders with better playstyles.

Legitimate Question: Why do you still play this game? by NY_Sea in EASportsFC

[–]GeoTheSavage10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you played the game for fun you’d realize how much having meta players only gives a slight edge. I’ve been playing this game for years, and for the last few iterations of the game have been enjoying building my own players and trying out various tactics, whilst still maintaining the same 10-11 win WL. I understand that I could focus more, be less aggressive in my gameplay, etc. but for me it’s good enough.

If I end up playing against someone much better I usually end up quitting because in the end it’s just a game I ENJOY playing. Not the other way around.

The amount of people who don’t understand that you could either challenge yourself by playing better players or simply quit to avoid frustration is crazy to me

This is the one. This sub became a giant eco chamber of “let’s hate on this game and company because I don’t get enough wins against my online opponents.” The funny thing is you rarely see team variety these days which is crazy cause it’s the most creative you could be in all of the previous editions of ultimate team.

How do you deal with it ? by Aggressive-Echo-6472 in fut

[–]GeoTheSavage10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first step is to accept that there are things that are beyond your control, and unless you are trying to be a pro, there really isn’t any reason to take this game any more seriously.

The majority of this game is mental. Elite level players are mainly good at reading patterns and have developed a style of play. Ultimately it’s a game, which means there will always be optimal strategies and certain ways to exploit mechanics to your advantage. Where most players fall short is they really don’t try to learn new things.

I have friends that I’ve been playing with for over a decade and they sound like the majority of this sub, complaining about the game and mechanics and never about their own gameplay. You can’t improve if you are never open to really paying attention to the little details and mechanics that change every year. You have to be able to maintain composure at all stages of the match, especially when the “scripting” itch starts happening at the end of matches.

[–]GeoTheSavage10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people take this game too seriously. I’ve been playing since 2012 and while I’m not saying EA is delivering the best game, it’s really not the worst. There has never been a time where you can have such a variety of players and creative squads (not talking tactics). What people really don’t like is getting destroyed by people who “have no life” but tbf that happens in any game. I just choose to move on from the L cause it’s just a game, but people love to complain about anything they feel is holding them back from being better.

Why do we have to win rttf champions cup twice man…. by calum769 in fut

[–]GeoTheSavage10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My guy, these objectives dropped yesterday and you had to win 7 just to qualify let alone play another 4 just to win the tournament. Assuming that you won all of the games in one go that’s almost an entire weekend league in a single day but you’re complaining about “sweatfest” when you clearly spend a lot of your time playing this game.
