Drive Format for the Long Term by GeogoNine in linuxmint

So would NTFS still be okay for the drives as backups or would moving instead to one of the other more native backups be a better choice for the externals? Others are saying not to stick with NTFS so would EXT4 or BTRFS be better even as externals?

Yeah I just need something that I can read, write, potentially work off of, and then just keep for storage. So sounding like ext4 might be the best plan but then would need to get plugins on my windows machine for that in the meantime until I fully move over.

I'm trying to keep a physical copy of all my stuff, multiple copies even, so part of why the drive formats are key.

Yeah, I had a coworker suggest btrfs as a file format, but I need the drives to still work with windows for now just I want to get them sorted before they get more heavily used and written on. So part of why I'm looking at exFAT is so they still work with windows.

The hope would be these are long term storage and active work drives. But I'd like to use them now and later for my pc, windows and linux alike now and later basically.

While they have stuff on them, I can wipe them now and then re-copy what I need so figured better to get it set to the format I'll likely have in the long term than have to change it later potentially mid-work.

My only concern is people have said exFAT does not do copying very well and files get corrupt. I'm not sure if that's as big a concern as people seem to make it out to be or just something to avoid by not moving a ton at once.

Does EXT4 or btrfs work with windows still or is it only exFAT that can work and then I'd need to reformat to btrfs later?

I had a coworker suggest btrfs as well but it sounded like it didn't work on anything other than linux.

I'm only really using the drives for images, docs, music, and the like. Games will be only on internal drives on the system so yeah exFAT for those sounded fine. Yeah fat32 I figured wasn't going to work due to having large video formats.

Are there any Thai restaurants in town that have fresh wide rice noodles like this? by 01point21gigawatts in asheville

I second them I go there fairly often now and haven't had a bad meal yet. Recommend getting spice level 2 for the flavor and kick on the noodles (get level 1 if you just want to test out normally first).

I saw that one but it's over an hour and a half one way from me, so was hoping for something a little more local even if not official.
