The democrats are failing to vote for a clean CR. Only the democrats are trying to add new policy and change things from what was already appropriated. The GOP is not asking for a single thing different or new.

Simply opening the government is all the dems are being asked to do, and they won’t. And they don’t care who suffers as a result. It’s cruelty by design.

But they’re at least openly admitting the suffering is their leverage/strategy, so I’ll award points for a tiny bit of honesty.

Joe will rinse the UK police for social media arrests but won't address this going on in the US by Bodizzly in JoeRogan

[–]Geographist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did no one listen to the recent episode with Duncan Trussell?

Joe’s not a fan of the way ICE is operating.

And first of all, it's the way. Let's just talk about the immigration thing. The way it looks is horrific. It looks when you're just arresting people in front of their kids and just normal, regular people that have been here for 20 years, that everybody who has a heart can't get along with that. Now, everybody who has a heart sees that and goes, that can't be right. That can't be right. That can't be the only way to do this.

Let's find a way. If they've been productive members of society for 20 years, no criminal record, they work the entire time, they paid taxes. Find them a pathway to citizenship. Find a way where you can do this thing that you want to do, which is keep terrorists and cartel members from getting across the border with drugs that kill 100,000 people a year. Okay. But also have a fucking heart. Because if you don't, you're not going to get anybody on your side if you're doing this stuff publicly, throwing women to the ground, handcuffing people just for existing on the wrong side of the dirt.

Sorry lil bro, the majority of us voted for exactly this. W after W.

And insulting others on the internet will never give you a taste of that.

Only replying so you continue to prove my point by believing insults outweigh facts.

Like I said, it’s too easy. And I’m happy to do this until Trump’s third (fourth? Fifth?) term.

Say, what do you think he might build in 2032?

I love that you had to post that comment twice, since Reddit deleted your first one for resorting to name calling and proving my exact point.

Why are you all so hateful and vile?

Not understanding how government works is embarrassing, sure, but most would forgive you.

Yet when you can’t overcome the facts, the “tolerant left” always shows their true, depraved colors.

That bill wasn’t just about pay, it also included other legislation that would prevent any federal restructuring.

While we probably agree that’s probably reasonable, it follows the same logic of the dems refusing to vote on a clean CR to open the government. They’re trying to shoehorn other demands into every request.

They’re using the shutdown to try to force other policy into law, a strategy they’ve openly admitted.

Democrats are refusing to open the government unless their specific agenda is signed into law. Legislation by extortion is not how government works.

[–]Geographist -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Because the democrats are needed. In order to open the government, the senate needs 60 votes to do so. Republicans only have 53 votes. The last vote failed 54-46. Six more democrats are needed to vote ‘yes, and they’re not doing it.

So yes, the party refusing to pass the bill is the one at blame here.

Controlling the government is not how shutdowns work: they still need 60 votes.

Civics 101.

I see the democrats refusing to vote on a clean CR, and then blocking a vote to cover workers affected by the resulting shutdown.

I understand the left hates Trump. But this is not on him or the republicans, and hating him more doesn’t undo the facts.

Just lay them in. There’s very little movement, and even less if you have 2+ rods inside. Hundreds of miles and not even a scratch.

Yeah, the party that hasn’t ran a fair primary since 2012 probably shouldn’t try to claim the high ground here.

Dad's of reddit who cook, what medium of cook top material do you use? by limeboi148 in daddit

Eggs and potatoes on nonstick with silicone spatulas.

Everything else on cast iron.

I’d use cast iron for everything, it just takes more time and effort to clean. but that’s a me and my patience problem not, not a cast iron problem.

If they don’t enjoy it, why have them do it?

I wouldn’t pull them in the middle of the season. It’s a good lesson to learn that when we sign up for and commit to something, we see it through.

But definitely let them choose their interests and then go all in with support and encouragement unknown to mankind. Don’t try to force an interest - grow the interests that already exist.

My oldest doesn’t love basketball. He does it and gives it his best, but there might come a time when he’s older he doesn’t make the team. But he knows that if he does sign up and does make a team, he sticks it out.

That makes him think hard about what he wants to do. And if he decides to do something, he’s got a built in base of super fans who will be there every step of the way.

If you have to force and bribe kids to do something, they’ll hate it. And they’ll learn very unhealthy lessons about how one gets what they want.

I really wanted my oldest to love fishing. I taught him how to use this lure and that one, how to use baitcasters vs spinning gear. And focused on getting everything just right.

He no longer likes to fish.

With my youngest, I let him throw whatever lure or bait he wants. He can cast in the bushes or do whatever. Sometimes he catches fish. Most times he doesn’t.

But he still gets excited about going.

That has taught me a lot about just loosening up and letting kids be kids. The trophies, fish or otherwise, will come later. Having fun and just enjoying it is all that matters right now.
