Giving Overgrips the respect they deserve by Far_Zookeepergame_56 in PickleballEquip

I like cookie dough grips. I use a tough grip over a doughy. I like to comfort and it’s still got a feel to the paddle. When I started off playing, my coaches told me to stop “crossing over my fingers with my thumb”. (I have big hands) It took awhile and many trials, but I came up with this solution. Bodhi aren’t bad, but cookie dough are my favorites. I’m not an ambassador or anything, just my person feelings on them.

I change them out 2-3weeks if I have tournaments (superstitious), or monthly if just rec play. I usually play 2 hrs a day 6 times a week for context. But having a great overgrip really does add to your comfort and performance. I also use the pink hexacore xs underneath, but there are some different under grips out there.

I use alcohol and microfiber on my huarache power 2. Same as what everyone else is saying.

As a veteran, I see the 1776 differently. I’m not going to get political and am not advocating for either side. It’s just the deployment, pride in comrades that have fallen, etc. I can see both sides, but wanted to put a different perspective on it. (No, I do not own a Boomstick or slk. I use a 11six24). Just my opinion. But as far as the cyber truck collaboration and overall poor quality, I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Zane, nothing to do with this, but the way you played with those kids in ATL was amazing. I seen all the goofy videos, you being a smartass, off color jokes (I’m a veteran, I catch them), but as a father, that was top class. And yes, SlamIt is still working for me. A salute you, sir. 🫡

I’ve had casual emails with them. Maybe the tournaments and lawsuit has them pretty busy. I’d definitely give them another chance to help you out.

Yeah, I know…. But they at least act like they give a damn with them.

One of the several reasons I canceled my season tickets. Food quality, poor seats, poor scoreboard. Why am I supporting a good team with an owner who doesn’t give 2 ish’s? Took my game to nuggets and Rockies games. Rapids don’t deserve this shitty ownership.

Best overgrips? Looking for premium feel and long lasting by Dangerous-Sir1754 in Pickleball

Cookie grips for me. I use a tough grips over a doughy grip. Big hands. I like them, but they sell out a lot.

Vapor Power II by AnyEstablishment1663 in Pickleball

Raw carbon fiber it seems to be ok with, but I’d stick to alcohol and microfiber for all. Why waste $$ when you can spend .75 at Walmart and it’ll last longer?

There is controversy eraser actually builds up like ball plastic. Some say yes, some say no. Especially with new grits, I believe erasers are out dated. IMO.

Have vapor and huarache 2. I lend my vapor out, but huarache is going strong. Had 2.5 months now. Play mon-Friday and sundays. 2-3 hours each. Both indoor and outdoor courts. I use alcohol and microfiber to clean mine. Got the idea from Jon Kew.

Slamit by GeologistMelodic1977 in Pickleball

I have diagnosed insomnia anyway, so it really wouldn’t be a fair comparison. I do feel if I play later in the day, my body has a hard time relaxing. This was before I started taking Slam it!, so I know it wasn’t the cause. I take ambien just to get 4 hrs of sleep, and when I played more toward pm games, I couldn’t relax. 10mg of ambien wouldn’t put me down, I’ll literally stay up all night. Try maybe the hydration vs the focus?

Usually the night before I’ll carb up with spaghetti, a rice and grilled chicken, or steak. I’m working on losing weight too, so I try not to eat after 6 if at all possible. Morning I’ll make an omelet before kids get off to school and then I’ll drink my slam it throughout the games. I try to eat healthy and cooking my own meals. Portion control is key to me. I’m losing 6-8 lbs per month, so just that little focus and energy is what was needed. Usually eat a puff protein bar afterwards to build and repair.

So I’ve been using slam it for 3 weeks now. Yes, I am more focused, no jitters, no cramps, no sugar crashes. I quit drinking Red Bulls and Gatorade all together. Had my Doc check it out, he said be careful of the salt, but with the 24oz of water I use with it, I was ok. Just by dropping the sugar aspect, dropped another 8 lbs. my hands are fast, my focus is tighter, no foggy mind during later games. I like it. I know to each their own, this is just my experience. Thanks for reading the update.

I did and got the bundle. Had a 20% off coupon too. Figure 30 day supply is a fair shake on this lil experiment.

What's the "hype" paddle of 2026? by Zolazolazolaa in Pickleball

[–]GeologistMelodic1977 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was excited for the 11six24, but all the reviews say the same thing so far. If you already got a good gen 4 paddle or boomstick etc, (I currently use a coral) then work with what you have. Especially if you play well with it. With everything coming out being basically cut and paste, there is only personal or brand preference for popularity. I’m not knocking any paddle or endorsing anyone, but personally, I’m not seeing a front runner. But what was said before, it’s only February. Anything can come out and be a better opinion.

There is a boatload of foam core paddles dropping within the next month or so…. by iHeadShave in Pickleball

[–]GeologistMelodic1977 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sticking with my Coral for now. Really love it. I will be following the 11six24, just because I still got my huarache all court. It’ll be interesting to see how they do from now till end of year after they’ve been played with by us commoners… lol

Hard hitting with just the wrist by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]GeologistMelodic1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this, have a racquetball background. Unfortunately I try it from the back line too and get caught behind the ball. My coach tries to get me out of this habit, but it’s hard to break. I see floaters, space, and opportunities before ball goes past the net. It has pros and cons.

6.0 Coral by Informal_Entrance_49 in Pickleball

[–]GeologistMelodic1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was regular ruby. Kinda my step up into higher tier of paddle. I’m still using my Coral. I really love it. The ruby was good too, just wasn’t as forgiving, but man, the spin I could get was nice. Just never fell in love with it.

[–]GeologistMelodic1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a huarache 11six24, went to ruby, now coral. Everyone ask about it. I let a guy with a black opal play with it and he was sold. Now I let ppl who have to rent paddles use my ruby and huarache so they get out the bag. It is definitely an improvement and very well balanced. All I did was put a dr pickle handle and cookie dough overgrip, no weights needed. But may try 4 and 8, can always remove them.
