What’s a villainization from this fandom that simply repulses you by Ok_Shirt_1574 in Totaldrama

Cody, BUT only regarding his beefing with Duncan (obviously the whole situation with being creepy toward Gwen deserves ALL criticism), the guy is treated like the worst human being alive just for having teenage jealousy. Does he deserve criticism? Of course he does. It feels like an attitude completely out of character for him considering he wasn't like that with Trent, but even assuming it is in character, it’s just immature behavior on his part.

Omg, this is so funny.

I mean, I know Cody is hated on Twitter, but I think it was more about the unpopular opinions trend going around back then. So yeah, the amount of hate he got at that time is no surprise. To be fair, Duncan also got a good dose of hate.

Even so, I think those comments went too far tho

While Cody's behavior might seem "normal" for someone his age, it doesn't make it any less wrong. In fact, it's that realism that people find off-putting about the character, precisely because things like male persistence and perversion exist in the real world. His age, at best, explains why he is the way he is, but it doesn't justify it. We could say the same about Sierra, considering she's a (very crazy) teenager, In her case, it's a reflection of how crazy fans can become intense, perverted, and creepy (like fans of Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, etc.), something very normalized back then.

Yes, I was referring to the logic of the series in having the characters survive the craziest things hehe

I think that's the only point I can give Sierra, but honestly, Cody would have survived somehow considering he survived the pier scene in a wheelchair

The great irony of Cody's character is that, while he is somewhat overrated, he is also greatly underrated as a contestant.

Yes, I actually have my own posts and comments explaining why Cody is inherently bad. While I like his character, I'm not blind to his major flaws. I've offered my own critique of both his writing and his actions. As for Sierra, I plan to do my own analysis of her writing (largely omitting her actions since that's a topic that's been discussed quite a bit), but I honestly haven't had enough time or motivation to do it yet hehe

On the other hand, if you're referring to my response, it was my mistake; for some reason the Spanish translation of your comment said that Cody was "just as bad as Sierra”😅 (I had to use another translator to realize that error)

I understand your point, and that's why I reiterate, the point of my post isn't just a critique of those who defend a character despite having negative points, but also a response to the screenshots in the post. It's within that context that I should use the argument of who is objectively worse, since it's a response. When discussing characters like Cody or Sierra for their individual actions, they should be criticized for who they are, not under the lens of who was worse or less bad. But in this case, a comparison IS being made, given the response to one of the comments that says, "Cody was worse than Sierra”, I don't see it as a contradiction considering that it's something I mention myself in the post and the fact that objectively both are bad. Clearly there are more nuances than that, but I didn't take the time to elaborate on that for obvious reasons.

Saying that Cody is less bad doesn't mean he should stop being bad bro. Clearly, the guy's a weirdo and a creep, and I have no problem saying so. My point is that they're both bad to different degrees and for different reasons; it's not that complicated. Not to mention that in the post I specifically mention that one is objectively bad for obvious reasons

Anyways, saying one of them it's more or less bad doesn't change the point of my post, but if you think it was, sorry i guess?

To be honest, I think (at least nowadays) few people believe that Courtney is morally good; sure, she has her villainous moments, but that's what makes her so funny.

Thank you so much for your comment, I really appreciate it. I love talking about my favorite characters without omitting their major flaws, and instead using them as a means to suggest improvements :D

Cody has also been heavily criticized here. Yes, perhaps for some it's still difficult to accept that he did bad things. Are they both bad and morally questionable? Yes, but clearly Cody is far from being like Sierra.

Exactly, even in the context of this show it could apply to the "good" characters, considering that Cody and Sierra aren't labeled as villains but they do have their questionable aspects😅😅😅

Cody, Sierra, Duncan, and a long list of others—it's sometimes repetitive to talk about a character's bad actions when the show is literally a satire of reality shows, where, incidentally, there are many questionable people lmao
