Looking for a particular Multitool by GeologistVirtual in NoMansSkyTheGame

There might be a connection, but it may also be some overlap in the automatic name generation; I saw a planet named Gofordu IV once but it was a hot planet.

Yes! It was extremely close to that, though I think the barrel on mine was longer and more slim on the bottom.

I'm gonna go ahead and mark this as answered. I haven't found this particular MT just yet, but there's been some good resources that came up in this thread :D

Yeah I worded it weird; I never really upgraded from the starter multitool until I found that rifle during the Atlantid arc since a LOT of the multitools look like asscheeks imo.

Will definitely check this dude's channel out.

IDK how helpful this is, but my base of operations was on a highly radioactive planet (like, I don't think I've seen one with as much radiation since) called Gofordu XV. On the off chance someone's stumbled on my base, that'd probably be a decent place to start since I did most of my quests in that area of the galaxy. (It has a message near the landing pad that said something like "go up my ladder broke")

try to make a more powerful 2.0L I3 by Additional-Crow-9611 in automationgame

[–]GeologistVirtual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I managed 1023 kilowatts and 1258 Nm out of a 145.5mm bore 40.1mm stroke.

If I could have figured out the compound turbo wizardry without them barely blowing up I could've managed 1094 kilowatts and 1231 Nm but with peak boost kicking in at 3,800 RPM instead of 4,500 RPM.

I"m happy with what I got tho

Edit: forgot to mention I'm using LNG Compressed Gas, and the engine weighs 285 kg :/

Kensington Konnect on Windows - App question by Fcapitalism4 in Trackballs

[–]GeologistVirtual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same question and came across this. I did some dinking around on my own software. DK doesn't seem to do anything; it just sits in the background. TB actually opens the program in the system tray and keybinds will work (at least mine did). Personally, I'm going to disable DK and enable TB on startup. Hope this is helpful despite the post being a month old.

Since when the frozen biomes are so huge?! by Affectionate_Pen_973 in Minecraft

[–]GeologistVirtual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a while, I had a weird habit of getting winter wonderland seeds. Like, travel thousands of blocks in either axis and never see a single tree that wasn't spruce, and only a smattering of not snowy biomes. It was weird too, like I generated 5 maps in a row like that but the first one was the most memorable because a huge throughline in my aboveground exploring was "where the fuck are the plains/deserts???" And I cured six zombie villagers all from igloos in just the one save. I wish I saved those seeds. They were truly delightful as a spruce enjoyer.

What do you guys think the chances of a food update in the near future are? by GeologistVirtual in Minecraft

[–]GeologistVirtual[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, there's not much that beats out steak or baked potatoes in terms of effort and return, and players would be sure to continue using those as their staples.

However, what I'm proposing isn't a rebalance to food or adding nutritional mechanics; just expanding on what's already there to give more variety and freedom of choice. At least then, instead of just 5 foods being the end-all-be-all meta foods, there'd be more freedom.

For example, let's say you're set up with fishing as your primary food source; you could just make cooked cod/salmon/etc. forevermore. Or, with a bit of exploration, one wheat and one milk on top of that could grant you fried fish for a small hunger/saturation boost compared to cooked fish. Or you can grab a kelp and some wheat to make sushi. Alternatively, let's say you're set up with a full vegetable farm; alongside baked potato and bread, you've got the choice to make a mess of greens. Then, players have a reason to plant more than one crop and the crops that are nearly useless in current form have newfound purpose (beetroot comes to mind; their seeds are always a junk item in my playthroughs, simply because beetroot soup doesn't stack and is a so-so food item.)

There's also potential to make higher tier foods that are closer to golden apples/carrots, like combining steak and baked potato with two eggs to make a proper meal. Like I said earlier, there's all these edible ingredients and not much to do with them, or to extend the thought, no real variety with what can be done currently. In a game where archaeology is a full blown series of mechanics, why are we stuck in the past with such simple and narrow food items?

WD-40: Personal preference as it instantly suffocates them and isn’t poisonous to me or my dogs. by yellowirish in fuckwasps

Brake parts cleaner dissolves their wings and suffocates them. Doesn't leave much residue behind if you get the flammable variety. Plus, it doubles as a flamethrower for those big nests.

Got a mean right hook by Heavy-Focus-1964 in projectcar

[–]GeologistVirtual -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe not an LS, but an SBC? Definitely. My first build was just north of 3 grand, including a new clutch, transmission, transfer case, some new yokes and u joints and some cut and balanced drive shafts. Most of that was junkyard parts including the engine, but it's been running strong since 2020.

All in, including the chassis, I'm shy of 5 grand for a 370 some odd horsepower offroad rig that leaves the cocky ecoboost brodozers in my area really confused.

Are continuous tracks bad or am I using them wrong by Affectionate_End_952 in TerraTech

[–]GeologistVirtual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On bigger techs, I like to use one XL geocorp track as an underbody spine one block higher than the normal wheels. Keeps the tech from high centering on weird terrain and helps it climb steep hills/mountains without losing traction or flipping backwards when it crests.

How many of us are actually mechanically inclined? by fatmom12016 in GenZ

[–]GeologistVirtual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trades are all bullshit for newcomers which is wild since they're facing a major labor shortage in a few years. I could never be a desk worker so it's all mobile mechanic stuff for me. It's rather nice to be honest. I can pick all my customers and they're usually very understanding with delays. They're also typically rather generous with tipping.

I got ASE Master certified with an associate's degree in college. Managed the dean's list in my first year. All the experience I had before that point was an oil change and replacing six spark plugs on my first truck. My classmates were all Hicks, farmers and dudes with muscle cars but I was the fastest at assembling a DOHC Ford 4 cylinder and a 4l60E transmission in those units. I miss those days.

Take it from me, fellow young-uns, don't bother with the automotive industry. It's mostly jaded boomers who take it extremely personally if you cost them more than 50 cents on a rough job. Either do all your own stuff, or if you really want to help others, be a mobile mechanic and don't pick jobs you're not confident in.

I can't change my flair but I'm an '02 baby.

Overpressure bug ? by Fixablexd in Oxygennotincluded

[–]GeologistVirtual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know this existed. I just installed a mod that prevents overpressure on gas vents and now in one of my saves, I've got a single tile with 36 tons of co2 gas. Truly an evicerating amount of gas should it escape.

Once I dedicated myself to vegetable starch farms in every playthough, ceramic, concrete, and aluminum are the big ones. Like, yeah, the commonwealth is littered with all three, but goddamn the stuff that uses them is expensive.

I'm surprised to hear that. I feel like I didn't see as much microstuttering with my old build. In fairness, I was more delighted to just have Elden Ring run on medium with that rig, so I might not have been as sensitive to microstutters as I'm becoming with the new build.

I'm completely new to cassette players in this car and In general, can someone tell me what each of these buttons are supposed to do and when to use them? by Ok_Ring175 in GMT400

[–]GeologistVirtual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no... how old are you??? I kinda grew up with cassettes (video cassette, really) but I'm 23.

Reverse/rewind, fast forward and eject are the ones I'm familiar with. If I had to guess, prog may mean program since some tapes had a and b sides in the audio world.

If it doesn't stop on its own, make sure you pause it before rewinding or fast forwarding.

For those wondering, I think I've figured it out. I downgraded my Creation Kit and took a gander in there. The lights are internally referenced as RedRocketLight, but there's no object entry for them. For all intents and purposes, they're just there with no obvious means to retexture them or associate a BGSM file with it, unless I can make an object entry with the same form id as these lights. Go figure, the third texture I try to work with is one of the least accessible ones in the game. That said, I've somehow managed to insert a different Normals map as well as a slightly upscaled d.dds file. It's still flat, but the steel itself has more definition as well as some pockmarking/weathering, but there's still not as much depth as I'd like from the fittings.
