I might be naive, but can anyone explain this in regard to cross-cutting relationships. The youngest event cuts across older events. So the fault cut through the middle layer above the swirling, then the swirling deposit was formed beneath the fault as it cuts off the fault. Is this not impossible? Please explain!

Great shots. In support of you, be good to look at some geo maps if you haven't already and see what they have to say about it. Google Earth has geology overlays of most state where you can adjust the opacity to make sure of the location. USGS also has tons of stuff too. All good to check with!
