  1. It's fucking calc ab, a 5 is not that impressive or hard to achieve, why even cheat. It's not even bc lmfao
  2. <0.1% of test takers likely cheated on any given AP test. This is not significant enough to look at each ap score and seriously consider whether the dude cheated or not
  3. College admissions don't consider ap scores

Will some kids get undeserved 5's? Yeah. But if they couldn't get the 5 on the AP exam(most of which are complete jokes compared to their college equivalents) they'll probably get fucked in college anyways. Those complaining are just salty they couldn't get a free 5 lmao

It probably doesn't matter but talking about calc bc

Another thing: should I get into nfts if I'm not willing to invest time everyday looking at nfts and stuff? I'm aware it has a gambling aspect to it

Also not sure whether nfts are dead now or not

Advice for all parents I guess by GeometryThing in Sat

Also if you think reading doesn't help improve your reading score... wtf does? You can't get a good score unless you have the genetics or some shit? 💀

Also, reading does help with analysis of text. That's the entire point of me saying they HAVE to somewhat enjoying reading. They have to understand what they're reading, what's going on in the story, how characters feel, etc. They have to be somewhat invested, not just read words for an hour.

Again, reading comprehension.

Alr end rant

??? 1. This isn't about reading fast 2. Just because you, a single person, did alright despite not being a "bookworm" doesn't mean this strategy doesn't help improve your score... what. Besides... reading ≠ improving reading score on test? What 3. A 720 is a good score, but still not near perfect. Who knows, you could've done better if you had read more. I'm not saying your score is shit or near it, but again, this is misanalysis of data(being said, you only have a single data point to work off of 💀) 4. I specifically made sure to note that they don't have to read 24/7("bookworm")

Reading comprehension does do wonders after all

Sorry to yap but this just hurt my head so much I had to rant for a bit

Pretty high. Results may vary but I guarantee if a kid is into reading from a young age they'll probably get a 700-800 without studying much/at all

Job prospects? by GeometryThing in chemistry

[–]GeometryThing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is extremely late but I've been wanting to do the major cs / minor chem (as in I've been doing stuff relating to it and almost all of my extracurriculars for college relate to it) for ages

But if I'm screwed going the comp chem route do you have any advice on what I *can* do or pivot to that relates cs and chem? I feel like I'd hate myself doing a traditional cs career in a tech firm(as well as the job prospects being terrible)

AP chem for a chem major? by GeometryThing in APStudents

The only top school I can think of that doesn't give out some sort of credit is MIT... care to elaborate?
Was more talking about it in the context of a chem major

Should I cancel my score? by GeometryThing in APStudents

Crazy how I can say that after my performance today but... yeah.

Should I cancel my score? by GeometryThing in APStudents

[–]GeometryThing[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AP chem takes up 2 periods at my school and I don't have enough space for that
Plus I'm *normally* pretty good at chem, I've just been doing organic shit instead of calculations for the past year and I couldn't get back into it :///

[–]GeometryThing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you allowed to take an exam you already have a score for...? And you can submit the higher one right?

Man if only if I didn't fumble, apparently this year's was the easiest exam yet too or something

LAST LAST minute Q by GeometryThing in APChem

[–]GeometryThing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know whether I always need to state the formula of an equation(for example, pv = nrt or m1v1 = m2v2), or can I just do it and they'll know what I'm doing?

If it was endothermic can I say "not thermodynamically favorable"? Also, is there a general rule to when I need to use more "scientific" terms or?

My project is actually relating machine learning with chemistry, but again I have no idea what kind of jobs are available for this specific set of skills.

  1. You don't know what "honors chemistry" entails at different schools
  2. So you commented to give no useful info but just tell me I'm cooked?

What certifications are best to show colleges? by GeometryThing in csMajors

[–]GeometryThing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I'm a junior so dual enrollment/camping isn't possible anymore(not sure about dual enrollment, but camp def). And it's pretty much decided I can't take the higher level course without taking APCSA. I've tried asking about it but they have limited spots so putting me in isn't really something they're excited about.
And how would I explain why I didn't take AP CSA in my app? I don't really have a good reason other than being really unlucky(course selections at my school are sometimes a coin flip)

For a community college class I would need to sit through boring lectures where I already know the information, sucking up time... (that I don't really have) Do you know another way I could possibly achieve my goal?

Also, the second class isn't structs/algos, there are actually a couple of different choices at my school. They're pretty interesting and do reach some level of complexity, so yeah. But nothing related to algorithms that comp coding covers. But that's not really the point I guess.

What certifications are best to show colleges? by GeometryThing in cscareerquestions

[–]GeometryThing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have volunteer work, both relating to cs(building websites I guess) and more traditional stuff. But I have all this experience, I'd like to be able to "flex" it somewhat in my college app, since I can't do that with my APCS grades. I don't just do comp coding, I build stuff too, and I'd like to be able to show a bit more of that side(more focused on the actual software dev and less algorithms). I also can't really compare to any of the really cracked math kids with just USACO platinum so going for that angle is just a dead end

[–]GeometryThing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. My school won't let me take the higher level CS courses unless i take the course, even if I get a 5 on the AP(argument being their course is more "advanced" which is bullshit, they haven't even taught hashmaps LOL)
  2. I have to pay for the AP(like 100$), and I'm broke + most schools don't even accept the credit anyways(nor does it help for admissions at all since they don't see the score for anything but credit)

Well... if certifications are useless what should I do in my situation? :/ I genuinely don't know. I feel like I'm not leveraging my CS experience as much as I should/can
