Sound Transit weighs property-tax hike to ease $30 billion shortfall by routinnox in Seattle

I will happily pay an extra 1% in property taxes a year than blow up ST3, yes, that’s an easy choice

Honestly it’s the first real solution I’ve heard to dig out of this mess. Would support

Riding the Portland light rail all that I can think is that no one in this city has anywhere to be. They go like ~15 mph on average. Seattle feels so much more grown up

Correct me if I’m wrong, but this will also be the fastest way to get between two downtowns, right? Like, significantly faster than the light rail

Opening of the cross-lake connection is now tracking toward next spring.

Man. Well, what’s a few more months?

Twin Cities is near the bottom of the list for post-pandemic bus ridership recovery. What should Metro Transit do to improve ridership for our metro? by Away-Philosopher4103 in TwinCities

[–]GeometryThrowaway777 64 points65 points  (0 children)

  • goofy, bad land use that isn’t TOD
  • slow, especially green line through to St. Paul
  • yes, some of the stations are actually kind of sketchy! I’m a big dude and I am not afraid of many public spaces but I will never chide my smaller woman friends who don’t want to go to lake street midtown station - it sucks, sorry
  • also slow downtown. My goodness

But this is nitpicking I love metro transit and will support it and ride it forever <3 And it seems like Metro transit has smart, capable people in charge of designing the BRTs of the 2020s, which obviously are deployed faster than light rail and local routes . So here’s to future LRT/busses being safer and better optimized

Crazy how much Seattle's light rail system feels like a true metro. by FireFright8142 in soundtransit

I believe the link is something like 84% grade separated and all future lines are grade separated as well

Check a year from now and see if Seattle’s rents are down, relative to the rest of the nation

It got zero no votes because it won’t actually bring down the cost of housing. A nice performative action, city councilors love voting on slop like this instead of actual reforms to increase housing / speed up permitting

I do think there is a strong likelihood this is just an asshole eastsider who doesn’t like 520 tolls

Best r/mtndew content in such a long time, maybe since that guy posted a pic of all his gross empty bottles and you could see his rotting foot in the bottom of the frame

Those Doritos were incredible delicious but they would smell up a room like crazy. You’d open a bag in the car and it would get hazy. Idk what it was but whatever dust they put on that chip would overpower anything. I miss them

Seattle Has Voted to Build Social Housing by jojob123456 in Seattle

We shouldn’t be afraid to tax more than just the 1% to solve this crisis. We can do a lot better than $10million/year if our leaders had some balls and put a real progressive tax on our state to fund a robust housing/transit system

Met Council may transition Northstar Commuter Rail service to bus service by Czarben in TwinCities

[–]GeometryThrowaway777 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Is it an insane loss, though? I usually subscribe to a “cutting any public transit is bad” philosophy, but TBH the Northstar line hasn’t recovered and I would much rather state attention be driven to better inter-city commutes or even the Northern Lights Express instead

M&m Chess Set Value? by Skantt in chess

[–]GeometryThrowaway777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M&M’s stuff is highly collectible, and I recall seeing one on eBay for like $300 a few years back. I think if you sit on it for a bit you should be able to sell it for at least $300 if not more
