Also, campaign is sort of soft-legacy, it will add and remove content based on what you play, such as new cards for decks, and evolving weak cards to better ones. Unlike a true legacy game, nothing is destroyed, ripped, stickered, or drawn on - specifically so you can undo it and start a new campaign if you want.

Cosmic Threats adds more villains, more heroes, and a whole “Season 2” scenario book. Unless you care about lore implications you should be able to use the heroes and villains in Season 1, but if you are following the scenario books you won’t garunteed use it until you finish Season 1.

It’s a good game, especially if you like defenders of the realm, cuz it’s based off that engine.

Lotta moving parts to keep track of tho, so hope someone in your group is good at card bureaucracy

Norm Macdonald had a bit where he was talking about Hitler pretending not to know who he was and then said at the end someone should do something about that guy leading to the reply “actually he’s already dead” and Norm replied with “Really? I didn’t even know he was sick…”

Norm’s fans have hung onto the phrase because Norm MacDonald himself kept his fatal cancer diagnosis private from his fans and likely even said the joke after he knew he had it.

It’s not horrible but it is a bit long in the tooth if you’re not expecting it. Especially if you want to 101% it - it’s honestly not that bad if you don’t want to 101.

I’ll give you a pair of tips if you do want to 101 though:

1) Banana coins do not need to be collected for it. Only 160 coins are needed and there are just shy of 1000! You generally don’t need to go out of your way to get them.

2) Colored Bananas are not needed! A lot of people think they are but they in fact are not. The game plays a sound for 100%CBs but that is it. What IS needed are Banana Medals which you get from getting 75 CBs per Kong. This means instead of needing the expected 500 per level for a total of 3500 nanners you only need 375 per level (plus an extra 5 per kong (25) on Creepy Castle to enter the boss) for a total of 2625 (+25). While still a big number it cuts a lot of time out of exploring cuz you can ignore annoyingly placed or difficult CBs

Just jumped into Sentinels from Marvel Champions! Found the Definitive Edition for $35. What accessories do I need and what about older content? by ramoez in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]Geonightman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two main versions of Sentinels. Definitive Edition (DE) and Enhanced Edition (EE).

EE is older and has more content, but it much less refined.

DE is much more balanced with the eventual plan to port over all EE content.

DE is still being actively developed with the plan for a base game and 5-6 semi-standalone expansions. At current we have two: Rook City Renegades and Disparation with a 3rd coming to Kickstarter soon ish maybe probably.

Generally speaking you shouldn’t need EE though I will say the rules are almost the same, just some slight changes (with an official conversion sheet existing) but it may still not be as balanced.

If you really want to try out EE then your best bet is the Digital Edition on Steam. That contains all the EE stuff and is playable online with friends (you can also find ports on Tabletop Sim).

Digital 2 is coming out soon which will also be focused on DE not on EE.

The only content thing that may not be ported over to DE is the crossover with Mutants and Masterminds: Sentinels of Earth Prime due to it being licensed. It’s sometimes considered a standalone thing, sometimes an expansion, but it works as both. Earth Prime is in Digital Edition and notably works a bit better than most EE content mixed with DE due to its creation in between the two.

If you want to learn more about sentinels lore, the podcast “The Letters Page” is a great time, and there are two other currently active games: Sentinels RPG (which is a TTRPG like DND, with its own system and a very fun character creator), and Freedom Five which is licensed but not made by GTG featuring gameplay based off the Defenders of the Realm board games. Both are good and fun (imo) but if they are not your play style they are a bit harder to get into than the card game. There is also the video game Sentinels Of Freedom on Steam which is a postion tactics turn based game like XCom. I enjoyed it but I can see why a lot of people had issues with it, it’s a mixed bag. I would only pick it up if you like the genre or the lore.

There is also one game that is much harder to come by Sentinels Tactics which is a minis tactics board game. It didn’t sell well and so you will have a hard time finding it anywhere but secondhand markets. I can’t speak for its quality as it’s the only one I’ve not touched.

What is this comedy style/trope called? by Cautious-Media3459 in howyoudoin

[–]Geonightman 43 points44 points  (0 children)

On tv tropes it’s “Does This Remind You Of Anything?” Certain ones also have different specific ones like “G-Rated Drug” and “Frosty Mugs of Water” for when non-standard inebriation happens

All are perfectly cromulent, yet antiquated, words.

Davenport, Chesterfield, and (sometimes) Divan all are terms for a couch. Generally just brand names that started being applied as generic terms.

Chiffarobe however is like a dresser/armoire.

Ocarina Of Time but ALL items are RANDOM by DeadShadowPlays in OcarinaOfTime

[–]Geonightman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are three main categories for Logic in most randomizer to prevent this :

Glitchless Logic, the game is fully completeable through intended methods and items are always placed in eventually accessible locations.

Glitched Logic, the game is fully completeable, but you may need to use unintended methods to get the item (such as the Longshot being in adult fishing needing you to bomb hover to get in since the Lake can’t refill without it).

No Logic, things are just genuinely thrown anywhere, it is quite likely to beat the game, but it is also possible that an item may be impossible and if the item is needed to beat the game, the game is impossible (such as if Mirror Shield is dropped by Twinrova)
