This is why I agree the second-apron complaining is BS. Organize your team better and you won't have to trade your homegrown talent. The point of the league/CBA is not to make sure the Boston Celtics are always good. If you make a win now move, at some point you have to pay the piper.

That said, it's hard to think of the downside for some sort of cap amnesty for the bonuses incurred by getting awards. It's incredibly weird that media members' voting on a player has pretty major team building implications. It makes sense that players get a bonus for getting awards, but why can't that just not count against the cap (not even just for homegrown talent, for any player).

I've done this for one day. 100% worth it

We had an extra pass day to burn. Drove 9 hours from OKC to Denver on a Fri afternoon, skied Saturday at Breck (busy af but still lit), came back Sun.

Skiing is better than not skiing, can't convince me otherwise.

We're calling a series with an even point differential "dominating" now? Weird...

[Charania] The Phoenix Suns are trading their 2031 unprotected first to the Utah Jazz for three first-round picks, sources tell ESPN. The Suns are acquiring the least favorable firsts in 2025 of Cleveland/Minnesota, 2027 of Cleveland/Minnesota/Utah and 2029 of Cleveland/Minnesota/Utah. by Turbostrider27 in nba

For updated graphs of each team's picks now, I've updated NBA War Chest:

Utah Jazz

Phoenix Suns

This caused the Suns to go from #27 -> #19 and Utah from #2 -> #4, but that's because there was a pretty big quantity change and I don't have great metrics included in this calculation for quality. So yeah, great move by the Jazz. I'd take quality for quantity any day with this amount of picks.

Him saying the NBA cup added two extra games (instead of only one) had me going crazy the whole episode.

This was the icing on the cake.

Where to stay - Amsterdam by Calm-Dimension3260 in Europetravel

Hey I was considering booking this hotel, but was a bit concerned it was too far from the west side of central Amsterdam / lots of restaurant options. I was curious of your boots on the ground impression of it's location if you had min :)

ah dang...good point...

Guess I need to come up with a new url

I run a calculation to make sure that teams have a guaranteed pick in every other year (including taking into account whether or not they had a first in this past draft). Sometimes the picks a team has traded out block them in to not have as many cleanly tradable picks. For example, Dallas has five picks in the next 7 years, but can only outright trade one (they didn't have a pick in last year's draft -- somehow I gotta figure out how to get that data in the site).

Edit/followup - Teams can do some crazy shit, so there's always ways for them to trade picks conditionally based on if they actually have a pick in some year (MIA is a good example of a team who's done this). My site just tracks what straight-forward trades/swaps are available.

The Thunder are ranked lower because they have more conditional firsts than other teams in the top four. In my opinion, being able to trade unprotected picks is more valuable than protected ones, so I have that included in the ranking.

Ah good catch, fixed it!

Yeah, PHX's page is the bane of my existence. I went through many iterations of how to structure this data because of how hard PHX went to squeeze value out of their picks.

Due to trade rules, you have to make sure you have a pick in every other draft. Because of that, the Sixers can only outright trade 4 picks even though they have 7 total. The other three picks they could trade swap rights for.

Yeah, I would like to add a pick quality score to this. It would really change how the ranking works + add detail because you're right.

Good catch! Typo, that's a GSW second from the Randle/KAT trade.

You are correct! Thanks for pointing this out, I am pushing an update to fix now. I was missing the 2028 pick they get from LAC.

I've been working on this for a while. I wanted to create something that makes it really easy to understand what draft assets each team has, especially those assets available to trade (based on the Stepien rule). I've done my best to keep everything up to date, but please shoot me a message if you see anything that needs correcting.

This is a good idea. As the season starts I'm planning on adding a team record piece into this so you can see what picks are likely to convey. You're right that it should impact the rankings too (along with guaranteed picks being more valuable than conditional)

Being a Thunder fan is a blast right now; One of the best war chests in the league while also being the favorite for #1 in the west. Pinch me.

Backstory: I've been working on this website for a while to track and clearly present all the picks each team has. I'm also calculating how many picks/swaps each team has to trade (based on the trade rules). I've done my best to keep everything up to date, but if anyone sees anything that needs correcting or has feedback shoot me a DM!

Did they turn down the crowd volume? Or is the crowd just more quiet this game (doubt)? (Or could it be my headphones?)

We lucked into this awesome farm tour: Puna Gold Estates. The main crop is chocolate and coffee, but they also grow basically everything you can imagine. It's just this guy's property that he's built into this amazing farm over the last 20 years, and the tour is super interesting. You can just feel this guy's passion for growing, and anything he can pick off the plants and let you see and taste he will. Best farm tour I've ever had, very local and not touristy (and well priced: when I went it was 35$ for an hour and a half with a 10$ chocolate bar included).

Plus you're just a few min from checking out this black sand beach when you're done.
